    • Genuine OEM Direct Replacement: Authentic factory-spec sealing ring designed explicitly to seat inside the front propeller guard bayonet track of Octo Pulse 4 wave pumps.
    • Vibration Isolation Compounding: Engineered using a specialized soft-durometer elastomer matrix designed to absorb rhythmic motor harmonics and stop housing chatter.
    • Saltwater and Ozone Inert Build: Constructed from high-stability silicone compound that remains soft and flexible without drying out, cracking, or losing its shape in marine setups.
    • Restores Whisper-Quiet Operation: Replaces flattened, pinched, or missing internal gaskets to realign wet-end clearances and silence annoying aquarium resonance.
    • Precision Molded Seating Tracks: Features exact-tolerance circular dimensions that slip flat into the front nozzle sleeve without twisting or binding during reassembly.
    • Toolless Maintenance Slide Upgrade: Allows quick, drop-in replacement during seasonal pump cleanings, restoring original factory alignment with no adhesives required.

Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 4 Wave Pump Replacement Volute O-Ring (ROP-OP4-ORING)

The Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 4 Replacement Volute O-Ring (SKU: ROP-OP4-ORING) is an authentic original factory component distributed by CoralVue to preserve the smooth performance, tight tolerances, and whisper-quiet operation of your high-turnover wavemaker loop. The Octo Pulse 4 is built to push a broad, high-volume 4,500 GPH current across your reef structure. Because its rare-earth magnetic rotor rotates at exceptionally high velocities to push this massive water column, even minor gaps between the front removable flow shroud and the main motor block can cause noise. This internal silicone ring fits right inside the twist-lock bayonet track, serving as a flexible structural cushion that isolates the spinning energy and keeps the housing from rattling.

Constructed from a premium, low-durometer silicone elastomer, this genuine O-ring is formulated to withstand the harsh conditions of dedicated marine environments. It maintains its shape and elasticity over long periods of submersion, resisting the degrading effects of salt exposure, organic slime, and calcareous scaling. When an internal gasket gets compressed, pinched, or lost during regular maintenance, the front protective cover can rattle loose against its plastic locking tabs, causing a loud hum that transfers into your tank's glass walls. Swapping in a fresh OEM ring completely stops this play, sealing the housing tightly to keep your wavemaker operating quietly.

    Key Features

    • Advanced Sound-Dampening Matrix: Soft-flex profile absorbs high-frequency vibrations from the impeller, keeping your equipment cabinet quiet.

    • Anti-Binding External Coating: Features a micro-smooth surface finish that lets the front guard slide smoothly into its locking tabs without binding or tearing the rubber.

    • Custom Profile Configuration: Form-fitted specifically for the large frame of the OP-4 generation wavemaker to prevent water bypass and tracking drift.

    • (Note: This replacement accessory includes the single circular black silicone O-ring gasket only. Removable front propeller baskets, main magnetic impellers, ceramic axles, and outer magnet mounts are sold separately).

    Verified Hardware Compatibility

    • Octo Pulse Controllable Wavemakers: Custom-engineered as the matching factory wet-end gasket for the standard Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 4 (OP-4) Flow Pump.

    • Modern WiFi+ Series Smart Systems: Natively fits the upgraded cloud-managed Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 4+ (OP-4PLS) Wave Pump configuration.

    • (Note: This gasket is tailored strictly to the unique body diameter of the 4-series models. It will not fit smaller Octo Pulse 2 wave pumps, nor can it be used on VarioS or AQ return pump plumbing unions).

    What’s Included:

    • (1) Reef Octopus Replacement Octo Pulse 4 / 4+ Molded Silicone Volute Shroud O-Ring Gasket

    • (Note: Complete front plastic flow cages, internal magnetic impellers, and motor block housings are sold separately).

    Technical Specs:

    • Official Manufacturing Title: Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 4 O-Ring

    • Gasket Material Compound: Marine-Grade Low-Durometer Flexible Silicone Elastomer

    • Primary Function: Housing Vibration Dampening, Resonance Elimination, & Bayonet Track Sealing

    • Chemical Resistance Profiles: Fully Certified for Continuous Saltwater, Freshwater, and Ozone Submersion

    1. Unplug your wavemaker controller from its power source to shut down all electricity before placing your hands inside the tank.
    2. Reach into the display aquarium, separate the wet-side pump assembly from its dry-side external holding magnet, and place the pump on a clean work towel.
    3. Grip the rear motor chassis firmly while twisting the front slotted plastic flow cage counter-clockwise roughly 15 degrees to unlock the bayonet tabs, then pull it straight off.
    4. Locate the old, flattened, or dirty O-ring resting inside the circular recess of the front housing rim. Use a plastic pick or your fingernail to lift it out of the track.
    5. Wipe the empty groove clean with a soft towel to remove any trapped sand or coralline flakes, then press your fresh ROP-OP4-ORING flat into the track.
    6. Align the tabs of the front cage over the new ring, press down firmly, and twist clockwise until it clicks into place. Re-mount the pump inside your tank.

    Pro Tips:

    • Never Apply Petroleum Jelly or Automotive Greases to the Rubber. When installing your fresh silicone O-ring, never lubricate it with standard petroleum jelly, automotive grease, or mineral oils. Petroleum-based products will quickly degrade silicone and plastics, causing the rubber to swell, soften, and break down within weeks, while also releasing harmful chemical films into your reef tank. If you need a lubricant to help smooth out a tight twist-lock fit, use a tiny speck of pure, food-grade silicone o-ring grease explicitly rated safe for aquariums.
    • Check the Seating Track for Sand Grains During Installation. Because wave pumps are often placed low in the tank to keep detritus moving off the bottom, fine grains of aragonite reef sand can easily get caught inside the volute tabs during cleaning. If a tiny sand grain gets trapped underneath your new O-ring, it will create a small high spot that prevents the ring from sealing flat. This uneven fit can cause the front nozzle cage to wobble and rattle when the motor ramps up. Always wipe the groove completely clean before dropping the new part in.
    • Inspect the Ring for Flattening During Your Quarterly Pump Soaks. Make it a habit to inspect the condition of this ring every time you pull your pump for its regular quarterly citric acid soak. Over months of constant pressure, the silicone will naturally take a "set" and flatten out, reducing its ability to absorb motor vibrations. If you notice your pump becoming slightly louder or buzzing against the glass, replacing this inexpensive gasket is a quick way to restore quiet operation without needing to buy a whole new impeller assembly.
