    IceCap Battery Backup Link Cable

Extended power grid failures during severe storms present a serious threat to reef aquariums if life-supporting water movement ceases. The IceCap Battery Backup Link Cable (SKU: IC-BTBK-LNCBL) is the official OEM expansion cable designed specifically to connect two IceCap Battery Backup Systems together into a single, high-capacity emergency power reserve.

Instead of relying on a single battery unit that powers a wavemaker or Gyre pump for 12 to 24 hours, this heavy-duty link cable joins a second battery unit in parallel. Combining two battery packs doubles the total available energy storage, extending total emergency pump runtime up to 48 hours or longer. The precision-molded plugs ensure a secure, corrosion-resistant connection between both housings, maintaining clean 12V/13.8V DC power delivery to your pump controllers.

    Ideal Application Setup

If you live in an area prone to extended power outages or maintain high-bioload SPS reef tanks that require continuous circulation, adding a second battery module via the IC-BTBK-LNCBL link cable provides essential peace of mind.

    Installation & Set-Up Guidelines:

    1. Disconnect AC charging power adapters and pump output cables from both IceCap Battery Backup units.

    2. Position both battery backup boxes side-by-side in a dry, elevated location inside or near your aquarium stand.

    3. Plug one end of the IC-BTBK-LNCBL link cable firmly into the expansion port of the primary battery unit.

    4. Plug the opposite end of the link cable into the corresponding expansion port on the secondary battery unit.

    5. Connect your AC charging power supply to the primary unit, reconnect your wavemaker pump controller output, and verify normal LED status indicators on both batteries.

    Pro Tips:

    • Charge Both Units Fully Before Storm Season. When joining two battery units with the link cable, ensure both batteries are fully charged individually prior to initial parallel connection. This ensures balanced voltage levels across both battery banks.
    • Keep Connectors Clean and Dry. Apply a light dusting of dielectric grease or keep cable connections elevated off stand floors to prevent salt creep or moisture from causing high-resistance bridging on external plug contacts.
