    25mm Metric 45° Elbow Fitting

The 25mm Metric 45° Elbow is a premium plumbing component designed for high-performance water management in marine and freshwater aquariums. This fitting is specifically engineered for 25mm Metric PVC pipe, which is the standard plumbing diameter found on the discharge lines of many mid-to-large Reef Octopus protein skimmers and professional European-spec equipment.

In professional reef plumbing, 45-degree elbows are the preferred choice over standard 90-degree elbows to reduce turbulence and maintain higher water velocity. By providing a more gradual change in direction, this fitting significantly lowers "head loss," allowing your pumps to operate more efficiently and quietly. Constructed from heavy-duty, saltwater-safe grey PVC, this elbow features a smooth internal bore to prevent the accumulation of detritus and ensures a reliable, permanent bond when solvent-welded.

    Key Features

    • True Metric Sizing: Fits 25mm OD metric pipe—essential for Reef Octopus and Maxspect equipment modifications.
    • Flow-Optimized Design: 45° angle minimizes backpressure and preserves pump output.
    • Industrial Grade PVC: Thick-walled construction designed to withstand the vibrations and humidity of a sump cabinet.
    • Safe for Marine Life: Non-toxic materials that will not leach or degrade in harsh saltwater environments.
    • Slip x Slip Connection: Standard socket-style ends for a secure, permanent weld.

    Ideal For

    • Skimmer Output Customization: Redirecting Reef Octopus skimmer discharge to reduce splash and micro-bubbles.
    • High-Efficiency Return Lines: Plumbing custom manifolds for reactors, UV sterilizers, and chillers.
    • Professional Installations: Creating clean, industrial-look plumbing layouts in large-scale reef systems.

    • Ensure the 25mm metric pipe is cut square and all burrs are removed from the edges.
    • Perform a dry-fit of the elbow to confirm your plumbing alignment.
    • Apply PVC primer to both the outside of the pipe and the inside of the elbow socket.
    • Apply a layer of PVC solvent cement to both surfaces.
    • Insert the pipe into the elbow with a slight twist to distribute the glue evenly.
    • Hold for 20 seconds and allow at least 1 hour of cure time before testing under pressure.

    Pro Tips
    Measure for Metric.
A 25mm metric fitting will not fit standard 3/4" or 1" USA Schedule 40 PVC. 25mm is approximately 0.98 inches. Always check your pipe with a caliper if you are unsure of the origin.

Reduce "Gurgling." If your drain or return lines are noisy, swap out 90-degree elbows for pairs of 45-degree elbows. This creates a "long sweep" that allows air and water to move more naturally, drastically reducing gurgling and splashing.

Clean Aesthetics. Because this is professional grey PVC, using a clear primer instead of the traditional purple variety will result in a much cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing look for your under-tank plumbing.
