- Ensure the 75mm metric rigid pipe is cut cleanly at a true 90-degree angle. Remove all plastic burrs along the cut edge with sandpaper or a deburring tool.
- Dry-fit the 75mm pipe into the smooth slip port of the coupling. The pipe should seat snugly against the internal shoulder stop. Mark the insertion depth on the pipe with a pencil.
- Apply a thin, even layer of PVC primer followed by PVC solvent cement to the outside of the pipe end and the internal wall of the coupling's slip socket.
- Push the pipe firmly into the slip socket with a quick 1/4 turn to spread the cement uniformly. Hold it in place for 15 seconds to lock down the chemical weld.
- Inspect the female threaded port to ensure it is clean and free of debris. Wrap 4 to 5 wraps of standard PTFE thread sealant tape clockwise around the male threads of the companion fitting.
- Thread the male fitting into the coupling by hand until snug. Use a strap wrench or wrench on the integrated hex collar to turn it an additional 1 to 1.5 turns to secure a watertight mechanical seal. Do not overtighten.

- Never Apply Solvent Glue to the Threaded Connection Side.
CRITICAL AQUARIUM PLUMBING DESIGN TIP: When assembling this hybrid straight coupling, only apply PVC primer and cement to the smooth 75mm slip socket side. Applying solvent glue to the threaded port will permanently bond the threads, ruin the internal engagement profile, and melt the sealing surfaces, destroying the fitting's ability to create a removable mechanical seal.
- Always Wrap Thread Tape Clockwise to Prevent Bunching. When wrapping your male fitting with PTFE thread tape before screwing it into the female side of the coupling, always wrap the tape in a clockwise direction (looking directly at the open end of the threads). If you wrap counter-clockwise, the tape will unravel and bunch up as you screw the fitting in, leading to micro-gaps and persistent weeping leaks under system pressure.
- Hand-Tighten First to Prevent Cross-Threading Damage. Because uPVC threads can be stripped by mismatched metal or hard plastic fittings, always start screwing your male component in by hand. You should be able to complete 2 to 3 full rotations smoothly without encountering hard resistance. If it binds immediately, back it out, re-align the fitting, and try again to avoid damaging the internal thread profile.
