110mm Metric Check Valve
SKU: PVC-CHKVLV-110
- Backflow Protection: Ensures one-directional water flow to prevent sump overflows or back-siphoning during power outages.
- Commercial Capacity: Specifically sized for 110mm metric PVC pipe (approx. 4.33" OD), the standard for massive commercial filtration systems.
- Low Friction Design: Engineered for maximum flow with minimal pressure drop, essential for large return lines.
- Corrosion Resistant: Durable PVC-U body with EPDM seals, 100% safe for saltwater and harsh chemicals.
- Reliable Sealing: Precision spring-assist or swing mechanism (depending on orientation) ensuring a tight seal even at low back-pressure.
- Ideal For: Commercial protein skimmers; public aquarium life support; industrial aquaculture return manifolds.
110mm Metric Check Valve
The 110mm Metric Check Valve (Non-Return Valve) is a critical safety component designed for massive water volume management in professional aquarium and industrial aquaculture installations. This valve is specifically engineered for 110mm Metric PVC pipe, the primary diameter used in large-scale Reef Octopus Commercial protein skimmers and centralized public aquarium life support systems.
This valve's primary function is to permit water flow in one direction while instantly stopping reverse flow. In the event of a pump failure or power outage, the check valve prevents high-volume back-siphoning, which could otherwise overwhelm sump capacities or damage sensitive equipment. Constructed from industrial-grade PVC with high-performance EPDM seals, this valve offers superior chemical resistance and longevity in both marine and freshwater environments.
Key Features
True Metric Calibration: Fits 110mm OD metric pipe—essential for maintaining factory Reef Octopus commercial-spec plumbing.
High Pressure Rating: Built to withstand the demands of industrial pump rooms with a working pressure rating up to 16 bar (232 psi).
Minimal Head Loss: Designed with a smooth internal bore to maintain high water velocity and system efficiency.
Saltwater Safe: 100% non-metallic internal options available to ensure zero corrosion in reef applications.
Deep Socket Design: Slip x Slip configuration provides a massive surface area for a secure, permanent solvent weld.
Ideal For
Large-Scale Return Lines: Preventing back-siphoning from massive display tanks to filtration rooms.
Commercial Skimmer Assemblies: Maintaining water levels in large Reef Octopus skimmer bodies during maintenance.
Industrial Aquaculture: Protecting pumps and sensitive biological filters from sudden pressure reversals.

(1) 110mm Metric PVC Check Valve
Specifications:
Size: 110mm
Connection Type: Slip x Slip (Socket)
Body Material: High-grade PVC-U
Seal Material: EPDM
Minimum Opening Pressure: ~0.012 bar (0.17 psi)
Compatibility: 110mm Metric Pipe ONLY
- Verify the flow direction arrow on the valve body before installation.
- Ensure the 110mm metric pipe is cut square and deburred thoroughly.
- Perform a dry-fit to ensure the valve is accessible for future maintenance.
- Apply PVC primer and a heavy-duty solvent cement to both the pipe and the valve sockets.
- Insert the pipe firmly and hold for 60 seconds to ensure a permanent bond.
- Note: Check valves should ideally be installed in a vertical position for the most reliable sealing, though spring-loaded models can function horizontally.
Pro Tips
Metric vs. Standard 4-Inch.
A 110mm metric fitting will not fit standard 4-inch USA Schedule 40/80 pipe. 110mm is approximately 4.33 inches, whereas US 4-inch pipe has a 4.5-inch OD. Always confirm your pipe diameter with a caliper before gluing.
Maintenance is Key. While check valves are excellent safety devices, they are not a substitute for proper sump volume planning. Over time, calcium carbonate or small snails can prevent a perfect seal. We recommend installing the valve with unions on either side for easy annual cleaning and inspection.
Support the Weight. At 110mm, this valve and the water it contains are extremely heavy. Ensure the plumbing is supported by pipe brackets within 12 inches of each side of the valve to prevent stress on the solvent joints.
