This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
Instructions:
- Unbox your flat-packed IC-FT-250S panels. Crucial Step: Peel away the opaque protective brown paper or clear plastic film layer from EVERY individual acrylic side plate before starting assembly.
- Match the interlocking puzzle tabs together to form the main box cube, sliding the tongue-and-groove nodes into their corresponding slots. Secure each exterior joint junction by stretching the included silicone band rings over the exposed anchoring tabs.
- Slide the vertical clear drop-gate into the front dual tracking channels. Tie one end of the monofilament nylon pull-string securely through the pre-drilled hole centered at the top of the sliding door panel.
- Push the stems of the two heavy-duty suction cups straight into the mounting slot tracks located on the rear wall panel of the trap.
- Place your choice of enticing bait food (such as frozen mysis shrimp, nori seaweed strips, or pellet blends) down into the perforated bait cylinder tube, cap it, and slide the tube into its dedicated top-deck port toward the rear of the trap.
- Mount the trap inside your aquarium by pressing the suction cups against a clean section of glass. Route the manual nylon cord out of the tank to a distant sitting chair. Keep tension on the line to hold the door open, wait patiently for the target fish to swim entirely past the gate line, and instantly release the line to drop the door shut.
Pro Tips:
- Leave the Trap Inside the Tank Un-Baited for 48 Hours Before Attempting Capture. Large, mature fish possess highly evolved survival instincts and are naturally terrified of any sudden, foreign objects introduced into their immediate territory. If you add the trap, bait it, and try to drop the door immediately, your target fish will likely hide behind your rockwork for hours. Instead, mount the open, un-baited trap inside your tank and leave it completely alone for two days. Once your fish realize it doesn't move and presents no danger, they will comfortably swim through the entrance, making your final capture effortless.
- Only Feed Your Aquarium Livestock Through the Trap During the Capture Window. When you are actively trying to catch an elusive fish, stop all standard broad tank broadcasts of food. Force the livestock to become food-motivated by placing all your daily food—especially preferred delicacies like frozen clams or fresh sheets of seaweed—strictly inside the trap’s internal bait cylinder. Within a short period, your target fish will associate the clear box layout with their only available meal source, overriding their caution and forcing them to confidently swim inside to browse.
- Ensure the Interlocking Acrylic Tabs and Bands are Periodically Rinsed in Warm Water. Because this fish trap utilizes clever modular external silicone band rings to hold its structural panels rigid, long-term salt exposure can cause fine crystalline salt crusting to form inside the tab joints. Whenever you disassemble the unit for storage, soak all pieces in clean, warm fresh water for 5 minutes. This completely dissolves stubborn mineral crusts and preserves the elasticity of your locking bands, preventing premature structural snapping and keeping the tracking gates operating with absolute fluid smoothness.
