- Ensure all 50mm metric pipe ends are cut perfectly square and thoroughly deburred with a specialized tool.
- Perform a dry-fit of all four ports to verify manifold alignment and equipment spacing before applying adhesive.
- Apply a generous layer of PVC primer to the pipe ends and the internal sockets of the cross.
- Apply a liberal coat of heavy-duty solvent cement (suitable for large-diameter pipe) to both the pipe and fitting.
- Insert the pipes into the cross with a slight twist and hold for 45–60 seconds to ensure a secure bond.
- Allow a minimum of 4–6 hours cure time before introducing high-pressure water flow.
Pro Tips:
- Metric vs. Standard 2-Inch. A 50mm metric fitting will not fit standard 1.5" or 2" USA Schedule 40/80 pipe. 50mm is approximately 1.97 inches, whereas standard US 2" pipe has an outer diameter of 2.375 inches. Always measure your pipe with a caliper before beginning a commercial installation.
