- Ensure all 40mm metric pipe ends are cut perfectly square and thoroughly deburred.
- Perform a dry-fit of all four ports to verify manifold alignment and equipment spacing.
- Apply a layer of PVC primer to the pipe ends and the internal sockets of the cross.
- Apply a liberal, even coat of heavy-duty solvent cement to both the pipe and the fitting.
- Insert the pipes into the cross with a slight twist and hold for 30–45 seconds to ensure a secure bond.
- Allow a minimum of 4 hours cure time before introducing high-pressure water flow.
Pro Tips:
- Metric vs. Standard 1.5-Inch. A 40mm metric fitting will not fit 1.25" or 1.5" USA standard Schedule 40/80 pipe. 40mm is approximately 1.57 inches, whereas standard US 1.5" pipe has an outer diameter of 1.90 inches. Always measure your pipe with a caliper before installation.
- Structural Support. At 40mm, a manifold filled with water carries significant weight. We recommend supporting the cross fitting with a pipe bracket or stand to prevent the weight of the water from putting unnecessary stress on the solvent joints of the horizontal branches.
