- Apply a thin layer of PVC primer to the pipe ends and the internal sockets of the cross.
- Apply an even coat of PVC solvent cement to both the pipe and the fitting.
- Insert the pipes into the cross with a slight quarter-turn to ensure even glue distribution.
- Hold firmly for 20–30 seconds. Allow at least 1 hour of cure time before introducing water pressure.
Pro Tips:
- Confirm Your Metric Size. A 25mm metric fitting will not fit 3/4" or 1" USA standard Schedule 40/80 pipe. 25mm is approximately 0.98 inches, whereas US 1" pipe is 1.315" OD. Always measure your pipe with a caliper to ensure you are working with metric components.
- Professional Finish. For a high-end "factory" look that matches Reef Octopus equipment, use clear PVC primer rather than purple. This keeps your grey fittings looking clean and professional without messy stains on the manifold.
- Balanced Flow Distribution. When using a cross fitting as a distribution manifold, the water exiting the side ports may have slightly different pressure than the straight-through path. If you need perfectly balanced flow to three different reactors, we recommend installing a 25mm ball valve on each branch for fine-tuning.
