- Ensure the 32mm metric pipe is cut perfectly square and the edges are deburred.
- Perform a dry-fit of the 90° elbow to verify the alignment of your plumbing run.
- Apply a coat of PVC primer to the pipe end and the inside of the elbow socket.
- Apply a liberal layer of PVC solvent cement to both the pipe and the fitting.
- Insert the pipe into the fitting and give it a quick quarter-turn to distribute the glue evenly.
- Hold firmly for 30 seconds. Allow a minimum of 1 hour for the joint to cure before introducing water pressure.
Pro Tips
Verify Your Sizing. A 32mm metric fitting will not fit 1-inch or 1.25-inch USA standard Schedule 40/80 pipe. 32mm is approximately 1.26 inches, whereas US 1" pipe is 1.315" OD. Always measure your existing pipe with a caliper to ensure you are working with metric components.
Eliminate "Gurgle." If a 90-degree elbow on your drain line is creating a gurgling noise, it is likely due to air being trapped at the top of the turn. Ensure your pipe has a slight decline leading into the elbow or consider using two 45-degree elbows to create a "sweeping" 90-degree turn for smoother air/water flow.
