Reef Octopus Biopellet Reactor Input and Output Connections

Maintaining a leak-free seal is critical for the consistent performance of any pressurized media reactor. These Reef Octopus Biopellet Reactor Input and Output Connections are genuine factory replacement parts designed specifically for the BR series of reactors. Over time, plumbing fittings can become brittle or threads can become damaged through repeated maintenance; these replacement unions ensure your reactor remains securely connected to your feed pump or manifold.

Each set is engineered to provide a precise fit for the Reef Octopus BR70, BR110, and BR140 models. The union design allows for quick and easy disconnection of the reactor from your plumbing lines without the need for tools, making media swaps and chamber cleaning much more efficient. Manufactured from high-grade materials, these fittings are built to handle the constant flow and salt exposure typical of advanced reef filtration systems.

    Key Features

    • Genuine OEM Parts: Guaranteed compatibility and fitment with Reef Octopus BR-series reactors.
    • Watertight Sealing: Includes high-quality O-rings to ensure a pressure-rated, leak-free connection.
    • Tool-Free Disconnect: Union-style fittings allow you to remove the reactor body for cleaning in seconds.
    • Saltwater Safe: Constructed from durable, non-corrosive materials for maximum service life.
    • Standard Sizing: Fits the specific inlet and outlet ports of BR70, BR110, and BR140 models.

    Ideal For

    • Hobbyists performing routine maintenance or a total reactor overhaul.
    • Replacing lost, cracked, or cross-threaded fittings on existing BR reactors.
    • Users who have purchased a used Reef Octopus reactor and need verified factory plumbing.
    • Advanced reefers who want to keep spare O-rings and unions on hand for emergencies.
    • Ensuring the structural integrity of the connection between your feed pump and reactor.

    1. Turn off the feed pump and allow the reactor to drain.
    2. Unscrew the existing union collars from the reactor ports.
    3. Inspect the reactor threads for any debris or old salt creep and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
    4. Ensure the new O-ring is seated flat in the union groove.
    5. Hand-tighten the new union connection onto the reactor; do not over-tighten.
    6. Glue the chosen barbed fitting or direct-plumb PVC with PVC glue.
    7. Turn the pump back on and check for leaks immediately.
    Pro Tips
Apply a tiny amount of food-grade silicone grease to the O-rings. This helps create a better seal and prevents the O-ring from binding or pinching when you tighten the union collar.

Hand-tight is all you need. Over-tightening PVC unions with a wrench can crack the fitting or the reactor port. If you have a small drip, unscrew it, check the O-ring seating, and hand-tighten again.

Inspect your O-rings every time you change your media. Salt creep can act like sandpaper on rubber seals. A quick wipe-down during every media change will extend the life of these connections significantly.
