IceCap Telescoping Acrylic Coral Target Feeder — 100cm / 39in (IC-CF-100T)

The IceCap 39-Inch Telescoping Coral Feeder (SKU: IC-CF-100T) is an authentic, ergonomically optimized husbandry tool distributed by CoralVue to simplify spot-feeding across large, deep, and heavily stocked marine reef aquariums. In closed reef systems, broadcasting liquid coral foods or pulverized particulate diets straight into the open water column is incredibly inefficient. Strong powerheads sweep the nutrients into filter socks, protein skimmer gates, or mechanical roller mats before corals can capture them, leading to wasted food and localized nitrate or phosphate spikes. The IC-CF-100T bypasses this filtration loss completely by giving you a long-reach tool to deposit food directly onto individual coral mouths and polyps.

What sets this 100cm flagship model apart from standard one-piece pipettes is its clever, telescoping multi-segment architecture. Built with an internal interlocking dual-tube assembly and a central compression twist-collar, you can shorten or lengthen the device instantly to match the exact physical depth of your display tank. The clear, heavy-wall acrylic barrel ensures maximum durability and will not warp or bend when pushed into strong internal currents. At the business end, a specialized non-abrasive soft rubber tip cushions accidental impacts against expanded tissue membranes. Whether you are feeding chunky mysis shrimp to a hungry Acanthophyllia or gently misting fine plankton over a colony of Zoanthids, this tool ensures absolute precision without getting your sleeves wet.

Key Features

  • Prevents Aggressive Food Stealing: Precision placement lets you deposit food right down into defensive tentacles, ensuring target corals feed successfully before fast-swimming fish or clean-up crews can steal it.

  • High Suction Volumetric Capacity: The oversized squeeze bulb generates strong negative pressure, effortlessly pulling up dense particulate slurries, live copepods, or custom blended seafood mashes without stalling.

  • Heavy Current Stability: Rigid acrylic engineering retains a perfectly straight line under heavy water motion, allowing you to easily spot-feed deep cave-dwellers without missing.

Note: This target-feeding accessory includes one modular telescoping acrylic feeder assembly, one silicone bulb, and one soft rubber tip. Premium coral foods and holding clips are sold under separate product categories.

  1. Unbox your IC-CF-100T target feeder. Twist the central compression ring counter-clockwise to loosen the internal joint, pull out the inner acrylic extension tube to your preferred length, and turn the collar clockwise to lock it securely in place.
  2. Push the flexible silicone bulb firmly onto the flat top opening of the main acrylic tube to create an airtight suction seal.
  3. Thaw your frozen coral foods or mix your dry powdered diets into a small cup of aquarium water. Press down on the silicone bulb to expel the air, drop the soft rubber nozzle tip into the food slurry, and slowly release your grip to pull the mixture up into the barrel.
  4. Turn off your main tank wavemakers or switch your pump controller into its temporary "Feed Mode" to halt fast surface currents and swirling water motion.
  5. Guide the long rubberized tip down through the water column, hovering roughly 0.5 inches over your target coral polyp. Squeeze the bulb slowly and smoothly to deposit a small cloud of food over its tentacles.
  6. Once finished, pull the feeder out of the tank. Submerge the tip in a pitcher of fresh tap water and pump the bulb repeatedly to thoroughly flush out any residual food matter inside the inner chamber before storing it.

Pro Tips:

  • Always Flush with Fresh RO/DI or Tap Water Immediately After Every Use. Aquarium foods are packed with rich organic proteins that decompose incredibly fast inside small spaces. If you skip rinsing your target feeder after a session, tiny traces of shrimp paste or powdered food will dry out and form a hard plug inside the telescoping joint and soft rubber tip. The next time you go to use it, the suction will fail, and rotting debris trapped inside can introduce localized bacteria straight back into your clean aquarium. A quick 30-second flush with fresh tap water keeps the tool completely clean and sanitary.
  • Turn Off Your Wavemakers to Maximize Target Capture Rates. Before pushing your 39-inch feeder into the display tank, always pause your circulating wavemakers and return pumps (or press "Feed Mode" on your controllers). Trying to spot-feed delicate polyps like LPS or Gorgonians while high-velocity powerheads are active will blow the food away before the corals can swallow it. Letting the water settle into a calm state ensures the food drops cleanly over their mouths, cutting down on waste and keeping extra nutrients from spiking your nitrate levels.
  • Gently Prick the Soft Tip to Clear Air Bubbles Before Feeding Shy Corals. When you pull a mixture of liquid food up into a long telescoping tube, a small pocket of air often gets trapped right at the tip. If you drop that tube into the tank and squeeze the bulb immediately, a large air bubble will shoot out right into the coral's face. This sudden blast of air will cause sensitive corals (like sun corals or brains) to snap shut instantly, preventing them from feeding. To stop this from happening, tap the side of the barrel or squeeze a tiny drop of food back into your mixing cup first to purge any air before guiding the tool down to your livestock.
