LED and T5 lighting built for reefs; energy-efficient, visually stunning, and engineered to make corals truly glow.
Reef Brite PAR38 Blue/White Aquarium LED Spotlight Lamp
Targeting specific coral zones or illuminating compact nano systems often calls for a concentrated, self-contained lighting solution that avoids bulky suspension rails or oversized multi-channel fixtures. The Reef Brite PAR38 Blue/White LED Lamp (SKU: RB-PAR38-50) is the official OEM spotlight lamp engineered specifically for Nano Reefs, Pico Aquariums, and Targeted Coral Spotlighting.
Engineered around a standard E26 medium screw base, the RB-PAR38-50 threads directly into any standard ceramic light fixture, architectural clamp lamp, track light, or flexible aquarium gooseneck arm. Inside the lamp, a balanced 50/50 array of high-intensity Actinic Blue and crisp white diodes provides a visually clean, daylight-marine spectrum. The actinic diodes stimulate coral fluorescent proteins (GFPs and RFPs), causing corals to pop with vibrant color, while the daylight diodes provide the essential broad-spectrum wavelengths needed to drive calcification and coral growth. Each diode is paired with an optical lens that focuses light downward, cutting through water column surface agitation to produce sharp point-source shimmer reminiscent of natural shallow reefs. The external housing features heavy-gauge, radial aluminum cooling fins that channel heat away from the diode array without noisy internal fans that can seize from airborne salt spray.
Ideal Application & Upgrade Scenarios
If you are setting up a desktop nano or pico reef, need a dedicated spotlight to boost PAR over a high-placement Acropora colony in a large display, want to illuminate an isolated anemone island, or need a compact light source over an in-sump frag tray, the RB-PAR38-50 provides an efficient, plug-and-play solution.

Installation & Operating Guidelines:
Ensure the power switch to the lamp fixture or socket is switched off and unplugged from the wall outlet prior to installation.
Carefully inspect the ceramic E26 socket to confirm it is clean, dry, and free of corrosion or salt residue.
Thread the RB-PAR38-50 lamp clockwise into the E26 socket by hand until it makes firm contact with the base terminal; do not overtighten or grip the lens face directly.
Position the lamp fixture approximately 8 to 14 inches above the water surface, orienting the beam perpendicular to the target aquarium zone.
Create a drip loop on the lamp fixture’s power cord below the wall outlet to prevent water droplets from tracking into the electrical connection.
Plug the fixture into an AC wall outlet, digital timer, or smart controller outlet.
Switch on power and observe light spread. Adjust the height of the fixture upward to widen coverage or downward to concentrate PAR over a specific coral colony.
Pro Tips:
- Use Open-Air Sockets to Prevent Heat Buildup. The RB-PAR38-50 relies on passive convective airflow through its radial aluminum fins to dissipate thermal energy. Never install this lamp inside fully enclosed, non-vented bell reflectors, deep recessed cans, or sealed hoods. Trapping hot air around the heatsink causes internal component temperatures to rise, which can trigger thermal protection, shorten LED lifespan, and reduce light output over time. An open-air gooseneck or clamp fixture ensures optimal cooling.
- Adjust Mounting Height to Dial in PAR and Spread. Because of its focused optical lenses, a PAR38 lamp produces a defined cone of light. Mounting the lamp 8 to 10 inches above the water concentrates intense PAR over a 12-inch square area, making it ideal for high-light Acropora or deep nano tanks. Raising the lamp to 12 to 16 inches above the water softens the beam and broadens coverage across an 18-inch footprint, providing balanced, uniform illumination for mixed-reef LPS and soft corals.
