Add-on Kit for Ecotech Radion XR15
The Reef Brite XHO-K15 Add-on Kit will increase an aquarium's light intensity, PAR, and color. This kit improves coverage and eliminates dead spots in a tank. You can control the add-on kit with the new Reef Brite Wireless Bluetooth LE controller (sold separately), which works with Apple® and Android™ devices.
The RB-XHO-K15 kit sandwiches two 10-inch Reef Brite XHO (Extra High Output) LED bars to the front and rear of the Radion XR15 using custom heavy-gauge brackets. Each bar features optimized reflector optics and eight 3-watt Actinic Blue LEDs, delivering a combined 48 watts of supplemental illumination focused in the 450nm and 470nm ranges. This linear configuration wraps light around the sides of coral colonies, banishing shadows and distributing photosynthetically usable energy evenly across the aquarium. In addition to boosting growth, the actinic wavelengths stimulate green, red, and cyan fluorescent proteins, transforming coral coloration. The kit is fully compatible with both the EcoTech Radion Mounting System (RMS) slide and Radion hanging kits without requiring permanent modifications to the primary light.

Installation & Assembly Guidelines:
Disconnect your Radion XR15 fixture from its power supply and allow the heatsink to cool completely before handling.
Carefully remove the Radion XR15 from the aquarium and place it face-down on a soft, clean towel or work mat.
For RMS Track Mounts: Position the two RB-XHO-K15 brackets between the Radion fixture and the RMS slide mount, aligning the screw holes with the threaded bosses in the Radion body.
Secure the brackets and RMS mount using the four included M5 x 12mm screws. Tighten by hand until snug; do not overtighten.
For Hanging Kits: Position the brackets directly over the top of the Radion XR15, align the holes with the hanging hardware, and secure using the appropriate supplied fasteners.
Fasten the two 10-inch XHO light strips to the front and back bracket arms using the mounting hardware on each strip end.
Plug each XHO light strip lead into the two female ports of the 2-way DC Y-splitter cable until firmly locked.
Connect the single barrel plug of the Y-splitter to the included DC power supply (or optional dimmer/interface).
Remount the fixture over the tank, route cables with drip loops away from water, plug in both power supplies, and verify balanced illumination.
Pro Tips:
- Orient the Bars Front-to-Back for Maximum Shadow Elimination. When mounting the brackets to the XR15 body, orient the two XHO strips so one runs along the front edge of the Radion and the other along the rear. Because corals are viewed predominantly from the front pane, having a forward-facing actinic light angled backward into the reef highlights frontal branch coloration and polyps that are normally obscured by top-down lighting.
- Acclimate Corals Slowly to the Increased PAR. Adding two high-output 10-inch XHO strips increases total PAR across the upper and middle reef zones. If your SPS corals are acclimated strictly to the XR15’s standalone output, start the XHO strips on an inline dimmer at 50% or run them for just 2 to 3 hours daily during peak photoperiod, gradually increasing intensity or photoperiod over 2 to 3 weeks to prevent light shock.
