Positioned directly on the intake suction side of the skimmer pump, this venturi utilizes the Venturi restriction principle to generate a vacuum, pulling fresh air through the silencer line and blending it directly into the water stream before reaching the pinwheel impeller. Over time, calcium deposits, dried salt creep, or organic buildup can restrict the internal air barb, reducing air draw and skimmer performance. Replacing or refreshing the venturi with an authentic IP-K1160-V restores optimum air-to-water ratio and foam production.

Installation & Replacement Guidelines:
Turn off power to the skimmer pump and remove the K1-160 protein skimmer from your sump.
Detach the air silencer tubing from the barbed side port of the old venturi.
Slide the old venturi nozzle off the skimmer pump intake housing.
Clean any calcified detritus from the pump intake coupling area.
Push the new IP-K1160-V venturi firmly onto the pump intake nozzle, reconnect the air silencer tubing to the barb, and place the skimmer back into operation.
Pro Tips:
- Clear Salt Creep Regularly with Warm RO Water. Salt creep commonly accumulates inside the tiny air barb nipple of skimmer venturis. Once a month, squirt a small squeeze bottle of warm RO water down the air silencer tube while the pump is running to dissolve salt deposits before they harden and restrict air draw.
- Soak in Citric Acid During Deep Maintenance. Whenever performing quarterly skimmer maintenance, soak the venturi in a warm citric acid or vinegar bath to dissolve calcium build-up inside the internal restriction cone, ensuring maximum air suction velocity.
