The IceCap Reef Sump 15 includes an integrated freshwater top-off compartment located adjacent to the return pump chamber to automate daily evaporation replenishment. Without a properly fitted lid, this isolated chamber remains vulnerable to airborne dust, salt spray from turbulent drains, and ambient lighting that promotes nuisance algae buildup inside the reservoir. Installation & Replacement Guidelines:
Lift and remove any broken or damaged lid pieces from the top edge of the sump freshwater compartment.
Wipe down the upper rim and recessed seating ledge of the chamber to remove dried salt dust or residue.
Rinse the new IP-RS15-L3 acrylic lid with fresh RO/DI water and dry with a soft microfiber cloth.
Route your auto top-off pump power cable and water feed tubing through the factory clearance notch.
Lower the lid flat onto the recessed lip of the freshwater reservoir chamber, ensuring it sits level and stable without pinching lines.
Pro Tips:
- Prevent Salt Contamination During Refills. When refilling the freshwater reservoir with RO/DI water, wipe away any dry salt crust along the surrounding divider rim before removing the lid. This prevents accidental salt grains from dropping into your pure top-off reservoir and shifting salinity readings.
- Avoid Harsh Chemical Cleaners. Never use ammonia-based glass cleaners, alcohol, or scouring pads to clean acrylic sump lids, as they cause micro-fracturing (crazing) and surface clouding. Clean exclusively with warm water, mild vinegar or citric acid solutions, and a soft microfiber towel.
