    • Precision MPT Threaded Connection: Designed with a clean 3/4" Male National Pipe Thread (MPT) tailpiece that screws securely into standard female threaded bulkheads or PVC fittings without gluing.
    • Livestock Safety Barrier: Safeguards curious fish, wandering snails, invertebrates, and anemones from being pulled down by strong suction currents into open drain lines.
    • High-Flow Slotted Openings: Features long, evenly spaced safety slots that deliver optimal fluid turnover while minimizing dynamic intake head loss or whirlpooling.
    • Corrosion-Proof Heavy Wall Poly: Molded from premium, high-density black polyethylene that stands up to persistent saltwater tracking, high UV exposure, and algae scrubbers.
    • 100% Aquarium & Reef Safe: Free of toxic plasticizers, colorants, or heavy metal stabilizers, ensuring absolute chemical neutrality in high-salinity reef systems.

CoralVue 3/4 Inch Threaded Bulkhead Suction Screen Strainer Basket

The CoralVue 3/4 Inch Threaded Bulkhead Suction Screen Strainer Basket (SKU: RF-92207-T) is a specialized protective safety component deployed by aquarium professionals, custom builders, and reef tank curators to eliminate plumbing blockages and safeguard delicate marine inhabitants at critical water intake portals. The open suction side of a standard 3/4" bulkhead or drain drop inside a display aquarium can create localized velocity spikes. Without a reliable perimeter guard in place, smaller fish, invertebrates, wandering turbo snails, and loose chunks of macroalgae or leaf matter can easily be swept into the open pipe. This can cause immediate loss of livestock or, worse, a tight internal plumbing clog that leads to a catastrophic display tank overflow. The RF-92207-T forms an effective perimeter shield across the pipe opening, spreading intake suction forces safely across a heavily slotted surface area.

Calibrated to fit standard domestic aquarium fittings seamlessly, this basket strainer features a precision-molded 3/4" Male Iron Pipe Thread (MPT / MNPT) connection tailpiece. This design allows the screen to screw effortlessly into any matching 3/4" female threaded (FPT) bulkhead socket or standard pipe coupling, offering a highly secure mechanical hold that animals cannot accidentally dislodge. Constructed from premium injection-molded black polyethylene, it maintains full structural rigidity in high-salinity marine setups and resists degradation from continuous light exposure, specialized reef treatments, or localized algae scrubbing. Because it relies on a standard screw-in thread, it can be unthreaded easily by hand for quick debris clear-outs during regular aquarium maintenance.

    Key Features

    • Prevents Sudden Tank Overflows: Keeps loose detritus, macroalgae sheets, and wandering snails out of your 3/4" drain lines, helping maintain a stable, uninterrupted water volume cycle.

    • Threaded Anti-Dislodge Security: The threaded MPT design ensures large invertebrates or strong water currents cannot push or pull the strainer basket out of its bulkhead seat.

    • Blends into Aqua-Scapes: The clean black matte finish minimizes visibility inside overflow boxes or along the back panels of display aquariums.

    • (Note: This retail SKU contains (1) standalone CoralVue 3/4" Threaded Male black suction screen strainer basket. Bulkhead pass-through bodies, plumbing pipes, and thread sealants are sold under separate product categories).

While most of our equipment carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty, consumable products like fish and coral foods are not covered under traditional warranty terms due to their perishable nature and varied storage conditions. However, we fully stand behind the quality of every product we sell. If you experience any issues with your food purchase shortly after receiving it, such as concerns about freshness, packaging integrity, or product quality, please contact us at [email protected]. We're committed to making it right and will work with you to resolve any problems quickly and fairly.

    1. Examine the female threaded (FPT) opening of your pre-installed 3/4" bulkhead or PVC coupling. Ensure the internal thread tracks are clean and free of dirt or plastic filings.
    2. Align the threaded male insert tailpiece of the RF-92207-T screen straight with the open center axis of your 3/4" female threaded port.
    3. Thread the screen into the bulkhead clockwise by hand. Continue turning until the screen's raised hex shoulder rests firm against the face of the bulkhead socket.
    4. Hand-tighten until snug. Do not use wrenches, pliers, or heavy tools to torque the plastic threads, as over-tightening can crack the bulkhead or split the screen tailpiece.
    5. Do not use permanent thread glues or PVC solvent cements during this installation. The screen must remain easily removable for future cleanings.
    6. Check the screen slots during your regular weekly maintenance, clearing away any trapped organic film, loose plant strands, or debris to maintain a clear, high-velocity intake.

    Pro Tips:

    • Never Apply Liquid PVC Solvent Cement or Glue to Threaded Screens.
CRITICAL AQUARIUM PLUMBING WARNING: This suction guard is designed strictly as a removable mechanical component. Never apply liquid PVC solvent cements, primers, or heavy adhesive glues to these threads. Bonding this item permanently into your female bulkhead prevents you from being able to unthread it to clear away deep clogs, clean out organic film, or swap out hardware down the line, completely defeating its purpose as an accessible service screen.
    • Keep an Extra Screen on Hand for Smooth Rotational Swaps. Suction screens can collect a film of green turf algae, calcified tube worms, or organic slime over time, which narrows the intake openings. To make cleaning effortless, keep a spare RF-92207-T on hand. During your scheduled maintenance, you can simply spin the dirty screen out and thread the clean spare right in. This keeps your system running without interruption, letting you soak the fouled basket in a cup of white vinegar at your convenience to dissolve scale down to new condition.
    • Hand-Tighten Only—Avoid Using Heavy Liquid Teflon Dopes. Because these screens are low-pressure intake guards, you do not need heavy plumbing paste dopes or multiple thick layers of thread tape to seal them. Simply twisting the plastic threads hand-tight into your bulkhead is more than enough to hold it secure. Applying highly lubricated paste dopes or bundling too much tape onto these small 3/4" plastic threads can build up excessive expansion pressure inside the bulkhead housing, which can crack the female plastic socket right along its molded seams.
