Over time, continuous exposure to water conditions causing biofilm growth and salt creep hardens these suction cups, causing them to detach. When a heater detaches and buries itself in the substrate or rests against sump equipment, it can warp acrylic partitions, crack glass panels, or float to the surface and run dry, causing catastrophic element burnouts. The IceCap Single Magnetic Holder removes this risk entirely by using high-strength rare-earth magnets.
The physical design of the IC-HH-01 features an Elevated Offset Isolation Collar that accepts any standard glass, ceramic, or titanium heater element up to 1 inch in diameter. This specialized collar design holds the heater firmly while keeping it suspended exactly away from the glass surface, maximizing uniform water flow around the entire circumference of the tube for optimal thermal efficiency. Both the internal submerged wet-side block and the external dry-side grip are fully encapsulated in a non-toxic, reef-safe plastic shell, completely blocking moisture from reaching the magnetic core. - Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Unbox your IceCap Single Magnet Heater Bracket. Inspect the sealed resin faces on both the wet and dry sides to confirm they are pristine and smooth.
- Slide the heating element rod down into the circular cutout of the wet-side holder piece. Position the holder over the upper half of the heating element body, ensuring it stays well clear of the lower hot active coils on glass heaters.
- Clean the inside and outside glass panels of your targeted mounting location. Warning: Any trapped sand particles or hard calcified salt lines beneath the magnet blocks can scratch your tank panels when slid into position.
- Submerge the wet-side holder assembly into your water column, keeping it firmly against the interior glass face at your preferred depth line.
- The Clamping Phase: Bring the external dry-side magnetic pad slowly toward the outside glass panel opposite the wet-side block. Warning: Rare-earth magnets snap together with extreme force. Never slam the dry side directly onto the glass; instead, slide it gently from the side to prevent shattering the aquarium wall or pinching your fingers.
- Slide the entire assembly vertically or horizontally to match your system water levels, ensuring the heater stays completely submerged below your low-water automatic evaporation threshold line.
Pro Tips:
- Slide—Never Snap—the Magnetic Blocks Into Position to Protect Your Glass. The neodymium magnetic nodes packed within the IC-HH-01 frame are incredibly powerful despite their compact footprint. When placing the external dry-side magnet onto your tank, hold it firmly by its outer rim and approach the glass at an angle, sliding it gently into alignment with the inner holder. Letting the magnets slam flat against the glass can cause stress fracturing on thin nano tank panels or pinch your skin.
- Do Not Position the Holding Collar Ring Directly Over the Active Heating Elements. If you are using a traditional glass or ceramic heater rod, always slide the IceCap holding ring up toward the upper third of the tube assembly. Glass heaters are engineered with an insulated upper zone and a lower zone packed with active heating coils. Securing the rigid plastic holding collar directly over the active heating section can restrict water flow around the hottest part of the glass, causing premature internal thermostat failures or warped plastic frames.
- Rinse the Internal Wet-Side Collar During Your Routine Sump Cleanings. While the encapsulated magnet core is completely waterproof and maintenance-free, the interior ring track where the heater rests can act as a minor collection point for floating debris, detritus, and film algae over several months. During your quarterly sump maintenance checks, slide the heater out of the collar and give it a quick scrub with an old toothbrush under fresh RO/DI water. This prevents organic films from building up and binding to your heater body.
