IceCap 7in Filter Sock with Plastic Ring (200 Micron)

Maintaining pristine water clarity and preventing organic detritus build-up in marine and freshwater sumps requires reliable first-stage mechanical filtration. The IceCap 7in Filter Sock with Plastic Ring (SKU: IC-FB500P) is an official OEM 200-micron polyester felt filter sock designed specifically for 7-inch sump filter sock holders. Positioned directly under drain line downspouts, it intercepts free-floating debris, fish waste, and uneaten food before water passes to secondary filtration chambers.

Constructed from dense 200-micron needle-punched felt, this filter sock provides high particulate trapping capacity without clogging as rapidly as finer micron ratings. The integrated rigid plastic collar seats flush into standard 7-inch sump mounting plates, preventing unfiltered bypass around the edges while making maintenance swapping quick and clean.

Ideal Application Scenarios

  • Standard 7-Inch Sump Drain Filtration: Direct drop-in mechanical polishing for sumps with 7-inch filter sock receiver plates.

  • Particulate Trapping: Excellent for capturing suspended debris after glass cleaning, aquascaping, or heavy feeding.

  • (Note: Package includes (1) IceCap 7in 200-Micron Felt Filter Sock with Plastic Ring).

What’s Included:

Technical Specs:

  • SKU / Factory Part Identifier: IC-FB500P

  • Ring Diameter: 7 Inches (Standard 7" Sump Fit)

  • Micron Rating: 200 Micron

  • Media Material: High-Density Polyester Felt

  • Ring Material: Molded Polymer Plastic Ring

Installation & Set-Up Guidelines:

  1. Turn off or pause main return pumps to reduce drain line flow.

  2. Carefully pull the dirty filter sock out of the 7-inch sump receiver bracket using the integrated plastic ring handle.

  3. Rinse the new IC-FB500P filter sock with fresh reverse osmosis (RO) or tap water to remove manufacturing dust.

  4. Drop the plastic ring firmly into the 7-inch sump holder opening until seated flush.

  5. Restore return pump flow and verify water flows through the center of the sock without spilling over the ring.

Pro Tips:

  • Rotate Multiple Socks for Easy Washing. Keep a spare set of filter socks on hand. When one set becomes clogged, swap in clean dry socks immediately and soak dirty felt socks in a bucket of water with a splash of unscented household bleach to break down trapped organic waste.
  • Dechlorinate and Dry Completely. After washing bleached felt filter socks, rinse them thoroughly with fresh water and soak in water treated with double-dose dechlorinator (such as Seachem Prime). Allow the socks to dry completely before placing them back into service.
