The defining breakthrough of the BioChurn 05T is its proprietary Power Churn design. Standard large media reactors often require massive, power hungry water pumps to blast enough flow through the chamber just to keep heavy pellet columns suspended. The BC-05T completely bypasses this limitation with a patent pending internal churn plate that redirects water into a violent, spinning cyclonic motion. WARRANTY
CoralVue, Inc. and Reef Octopus hereby guarantee this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of:
- Five (5) year warranty on pump body/housing
- Three (3) year warranty on Reef Octopus-branded controller
- One (1) year warranty on Power Supply, Impeller (and components), Rotor, Rear Bushing, and Gaskets
Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.
This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Verify that all internal plates, the upper containment screen, and the Water Blaster 5000 recirculation pump unions are firmly locked.
- Open the heavy-duty top lid assembly and add up to 5 Liters of high quality solid carbon biopellets (CoralVue BioSphere media highly recommended).
- Secure the lid back onto the top flange, checking that the primary sealing gasket is correctly seated, and screw down the retaining hardware evenly.
- Plumb an external, controllable feed pump (capable of delivering 1,320–1,850 GPH) to the dedicated raw water input line.
- Turn on the external feed pump first to fill the 40.5-inch acrylic tower completely and push out any trapped air pockets.
- Plug the Water Blaster 5000 into a dedicated GFCI power source and adjust the independent control valves until the entire biopellet column is tumbling in a gentle, uniform cyclonic motion.
Pro Tips:
- Skimmer Output Routing. For optimal nutrient export, always direct the effluent water exiting the BioChurn 05T directly into the intake section or venturi pump of a powerful protein skimmer. The skimmer will immediately capture and mechanically extract the bacteria rich film coming off the tumbling media before it can disperse back into the main display water.
- The Bacterial Bloom Caution. When kickstarting a large commercial biopellet reactor, never add the maximum volume of media all at once. Start with roughly 25-30% of the total recommended pellet volume. Allow 3 weeks for the initial bacterial colony to mature before slowly adding more media over time. This step-by-step approach avoids a massive bacterial bloom that can temporarily deplete dissolved oxygen levels.
- Keep an Eye on the Churn Plate. Over months of continuous deployment, a thick bacterial slime (biofilm) will develop inside the chamber. During routine facility maintenance, ensure that the lower churn plate nozzles remain free of heavy debris or clumped media pellets to guarantee the cyclonic spinning motion maintains peak operational efficiency.
