Reef Octopus Elite 200INT Replacement Air Venturi Nozzle (ROP-DC-VNTR-ELITE200INT)

The Reef Octopus Elite 200INT Air Venturi Nozzle (SKU: ROP-DC-VNTR-ELITE200INT) is an authentic factory-spec air-injection nozzle distributed by CoralVue to preserve the fine bubble patterns, rich foam production, and organic extraction efficiencies of your central filtration network. A fractionating needlewheel or pinwheel skimmer pump cannot generate its microbubble column without an optimized air-induction device at its primary suction port. This specialized venturi utilizes an engineered fluid restriction design. As water is drawn into the low-voltage VarioS-4S motor, the nozzle rapidly chokes the incoming stream, creating a localized drop in fluid pressure that aggressively pulls atmospheric air through your silencer line directly into the spinning impeller bay.

Because your protein skimmer operates continuously, this high-velocity entry point is vulnerable to environmental blockages. Saltwater evaporation naturally creates heavy calcification and rock-hard salt creep inside the air nipple, while raw organics form an internal slime coat that disrupts the calculated fluid dynamics. Cleaning with sharp metal tools can scratch or gouge the internal plastic walls, ruining the vacuum seal. Running a skimmer pump with a compromised, salt-choked, or cracked venturi causes massive drops in bubble density, large turbulent water bursts, and total collection cup flatlining. Swapping out the old nozzle with this genuine replacement instantly re-establishes an airtight seal, restoring maximum air pull to maintain deep-cleaning organic skimming performance.

    Key Features

    • True Elite Series Sizing Tolerances: Precision molded with exact collar dimensions to seat flush against the open-volute front housing native to the Elite 200INT.

    • Ozone-Resistant Material Formulation: Dense PVC compound will not pit, yellow, become brittle, or degrade during structural descaling baths or continuous ozonizer injection routines.

    • Streamlined Low-Turbulence Internal Pathway: Smooth internal expansion walls eliminate early bubble coalescence, ensuring microbubbles travel directly onto the shredding pins.

    • (Note: This replacement hardware includes the single molded grey plastic venturi adapter block only. Silicone air tubing lines, clear open-volute housings, and primary pump motor blocks are sold separately).

    Verified Hardware Compatibility

    • Reef Octopus Controllable DC Skimmers: Form-cut natively as the intake nozzle for the mid-frame VarioS-4S Controllable Skimmer Pump when utilized inside the Reef Octopus Elite 200INT Super Cone Protein Skimmer.

    1. Turn off your VarioS-4S pump controller and pull the main 24V power transformer out of the wall outlet to kill live electricity before servicing the wet end.

    2. Disconnect the flexible silicone air-intake line from the vertical hose barb on your old venturi nozzle housing.

    3. Firmly grasp your pump's clear acrylic open volute cover with one hand, take hold of the old grey venturi body with the other, and twist while pulling straight outward to release the friction lock.

    4. Clean the exterior mounting collar of your volute cover to remove any built-up detritus, mineral scale, or biological film.

    5. Align your new ROP-DC-VNTR-ELITE200INT air venturi straight over the volute input port and push it firmly inward until it seats completely flush against the faceplate shoulder.

    6. Push your flexible silicone air line back over the integrated hose barb, place the pump back into position on its base tracking rails, and restore electrical power.

    Pro Tips:

    • Never Clean the Air Nipple Port with Metal Drill Bits or Screws. When salt creep or calcium carbonate inevitably crusts up inside the narrow vertical air line barb of this venturi, never use a metal drill bit, drywall screw, or knife point to scrape it out. The internal diameter of that air port is engineered to a precise millimeter tolerance to control the air-to-water ratio. Shaving or gouging the plastic walls with metal tools will enlarge the opening, permanently throwing off the vacuum dynamics and ruining the skimmer’s bubble pattern. Use a plastic toothpick or a warm citric acid soak instead.
    • Apply a Micro-Smear of Silicone Grease for Easy Maintenance Teardowns. Because the venturi slides directly into the pump's intake collar using a tight friction fit, mineral scale can bind the two plastic pieces together over time, making them very difficult to separate. To make future maintenance much easier, rub a microscopic smear of 100% pure aquarium-safe silicone plumbing grease onto the inner mating ring of the new venturi before pushing it into place. This keeps the plastic from seizing up without affecting your water line.
    • Perform an Overnight Citric Acid Soak to Clear Stubborn Scaling. If you notice your protein skimmer's foam line steadily dropping or producing large, irregular bubbles, the venturi is likely clogged with hidden internal calcium scaling. Every 3 to 4 months, slide the venturi off the pump and submerge it in a warm bath of water mixed with citric acid powder overnight. This safely dissolves hard scale build-ups inside the internal bottleneck without scratching or damaging the smooth polymer pathways.
