Surgical Grade Silicone Airline Tubing for CLSC-202S
The Reef Octopus Surgical Grade Silicone Airline Tubing is a premium replacement component designed specifically for the high-performance requirements of the Classic 202-S (CLSC-202S) protein skimmer. Because the 202-S utilizes the powerful Aquatrance 3000s pump to pull nearly 900 liters of air per hour, the integrity of the airline is vital. Standard vinyl tubing often becomes brittle, yellows, or kinks over time, which "starves" the pump of air and causes the foam column to collapse.
This surgical-grade silicone is engineered to remain soft and pliable even after years of exposure to salt spray and high-humidity cabinet environments. Its superior flexibility allows for tight routing within compact sumps without the risk of collapsing the inner diameter. Furthermore, this tubing is 100% ozone-safe, making it the ideal choice for advanced hobbyists using ozone generators to increase ORP levels. By maintaining a perfectly clear air path, this tubing ensures your Classic 202-S operates at its full factory-rated potential.
Key Features
• Surgical-Grade Quality: High-purity silicone provides maximum resistance to salt creep and UV degradation.
• Kink-Resistant Wall: Specifically designed to maintain its shape under the vacuum pressure of the AQ3000s pump.
• Ozone Compatible: Will not crack or perish when used in conjunction with ozone injection systems.
• Custom Lengths: Sold by the foot, allowing you to tailor the line length to your specific silencer mounting position.
• Precision Fit: Sized perfectly for the air barbs on the Classic 202-S silencer and venturi.
Ideal For
• Classic 202-S Skimmers: Specifically recommended for the AQ3000s pump intake.
• Performance Restoration: Replacing old, stiff, or brown-tinted lines that are restricting airflow.
• Custom Sump Plumbing: Hobbyists who have remote-mounted their air silencer for further noise reduction.
• Ozone Users: Systems requiring high-durability tubing for gas-to-water injection.

- Turn off the protein skimmer pump.
- Measure the distance between your air silencer and the pump venturi.
- Cut the silicone tubing to length using sharp scissors for a clean, square edge.
- Remove the old, brittle tubing from the air barbs. Note: If the old line is stuck, carefully cut it off rather than pulling to avoid snapping the acrylic barbs.
- Slide the new silicone tubing onto the silencer barb and the venturi barb until secure.
- Ensure there are no sharp bends or "loops" that could collect moisture, then restart the pump.
Pro Tips:
Order an extra foot.
When ordering, it is always wise to add one extra foot to your measurement. This gives you enough "slack" to easily remove the collection cup or pump for cleaning without having to disconnect the airline every time.
Keep the line dry. If you notice "gurgling," water may have collected in the line. Silicone is very flexible, so ensure the line has a continuous downward slope toward the pump. This allows any condensation to be sucked into the pump rather than pooling in a "trap".
Avoid the "Stretch." While silicone is stretchy, do not over-stretch it over the barbs. If the fit is tight, a tiny drop of RO/DI water on the barb will act as a lubricant, allowing the tubing to slide on effortlessly without putting stress on the plastic fittings.
