- Unscrew the two union nuts from the valve body and slide them onto your 25mm metric pipe ends.
- Ensure the pipe ends are cut square and deburred thoroughly.
- Solvent-weld the union sockets to the pipe ends using a high-quality PVC cement.
- Once the adhesive has fully cured, place the valve body between the sockets, ensuring the O-rings are clean and properly seated.
- Hand-tighten the union nuts until snug. Avoid using wrenches, as hand-tightening is sufficient to compress the O-rings for a perfect seal.
- Open and close the handle several times to verify smooth movement before introducing water pressure.
Pro Tips:
- Metric vs. Standard 1-Inch. A 25mm metric valve will not fit standard 3/4" or 1" USA Schedule 40/80 pipe. 25mm is approximately 0.98 inches, while US 1" pipe has a 1.315" OD. Always measure your pipe with a caliper to ensure you are working with metric components.
- Maintenance Trick. Every 12 months, close the valve, unscrew the unions, and apply a thin film of 100% silicone grease to the internal O-rings and ball seats. This keeps the valve turning like new and prevents the seals from becoming brittle in high-calcium saltwater environments.
