Slow-Sinking Mini Wafer Food for Crystal and Cherry Shrimp

The Dymax Crystal Shrimp Excellent Food is a natural shrimp food in a slow-sinking mini wafer format, designed to reach both juvenile and adult shrimp at the substrate level. The small wafer size is intentional — most shrimp foods that work well for adult Caridina and Neocaridina are too large for juveniles to consume, which means younger shrimp miss feedings. This formula is sized to feed the whole colony in a single placement.

The formula is built around natural color enhancers, including spirulina, seaweed, and astaxanthin, which support the vivid coloration that crystal and cherry shrimp keepers are working toward. Essential vitamins and minerals are included to support immune system function. There are no added dyes or preservatives — two inputs that are common sources of water quality problems in small shrimp tanks where the bioload margin is narrow.

Key Features:

  • Slow-sinking mini wafer format sized for juvenile and adult crystal and cherry shrimp
  • Made from a blend of natural ingredients with no added dyes or preservatives
  • Contains spirulina, seaweed, and astaxanthin for natural color enhancement
  • Provides essential vitamins and minerals to support immune system health
  • Suitable for all types of crystal shrimp (CRS, CBS, BKK, etc.) and cherry shrimp (Neocaridina)
  • Formulated to support breeding colonies where both juveniles and mature shrimp feed together
  • 50g container provides a practical retail quantity for active colonies

Ideal For:

  • Crystal shrimp keepers running a breeding colony who need a food small enough for freshly hatched juveniles and adults to eat at the same time
  • Neocaridina and Caridina hobbyists who want a natural, additive-free daily food to anchor their feeding rotation
  • Shrimp keepers in small tanks where uneaten food decomposes quickly and water quality margin is tight

Pro Tips:

  • Feed in small amounts and remove what is not eaten within two to three hours. Uneaten wafers will break down in a shrimp tank and spike ammonia or feed algae. Shrimp are grazers, not heavy feeders — a pinch or one to two small wafers per feeding is usually enough for a healthy colony.
  • Drop the wafer near a flat surface the whole colony can access. Crystal and cherry shrimp congregate and graze communally. Placing the wafer on a smooth piece of hardscape or directly on the substrate in an open area gives every colony member access, including juveniles who are slower to reach food.
  • Rotate this food with other natural food types. A varied diet that includes both protein-forward foods and plant-based options like this one results in better coloration and more consistent breeding behavior than a single-food diet. Biofilm and blanched vegetables can supplement between feedings.

While most of our equipment carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty, consumable products like fish and coral foods are not covered under traditional warranty terms due to their perishable nature and varied storage conditions. However, we fully stand behind the quality of every product we sell. If you experience any issues with your food purchase shortly after receiving it, such as concerns about freshness, packaging integrity, or product quality, please contact us at [email protected]. We're committed to making it right and will work with you to resolve any problems quickly and fairly.

Instructions:

  1. Drop one to two small wafers into the tank near a flat feeding surface or directly on the substrate.
  2. Observe the colony for 15 to 20 minutes to confirm the shrimp are actively grazing on the wafer.
  3. Remove any uneaten food after two to three hours using a fine aquarium net or pipette.
  4. Feed once to twice daily in small amounts. Avoid overfeeding — shrimp are grazers and do not require large portions at each feeding.
  5. Store the container in a cool, dry location with the lid tightly sealed between feedings to preserve freshness.
