50mm Metric Tee Fitting
The 50mm Metric Tee Fitting is a heavy-duty 3-way joiner engineered for high-volume water distribution in professional aquarium exhibits, public aquariums, and industrial aquaculture facilities. Precision-molded for 50mm Metric PVC pipe, this tee is a critical component for building primary life support manifolds, branching high-volume return headers, or integrating large-scale equipment into your main plumbing loop.
In large-scale life support engineering, joints must withstand significant hydraulic pressure and the physical weight of water-filled 50mm lines. This tee features exceptionally deep sockets, providing the massive surface area required for secure solvent welding. Manufactured from industrial-grade grey UPVC, it matches the professional "factory" aesthetic of Reef Octopus commercial equipment and is built to withstand the rigors of high-pressure pump rooms.
Key Features
True Metric Calibration: Fits 50mm OD metric pipe—essential for maintaining factory Reef Octopus and commercial-spec hardware.
90-Degree Precision: Ensures perfectly square branches for clean, organized, and structurally sound plumbing layouts.
Marine-Grade Material: 100% non-metallic; will not rust, pit, or leach chemicals into sensitive aquatic environments.
Flow-Optimized Design: Engineered to maintain water velocity across the branch, reducing head pressure on your system.
Slip x Slip x Slip: Features three female socket connections for permanent chemical welding on all sides.
Ideal For
Commercial Manifolds: Creating 50mm distribution blocks for multi-tank systems or public exhibits.
Primary Return Headers: Branching 50mm return lines to feed multiple filtration stages.
Equipment Integration: Installing bypass loops for large-scale industrial UV sterilizers or commercial protein skimmers.

What’s Included:
(1) 50mm Metric Tee Fitting
Specifications:
Size: 50mm
Connection Type: Slip x Slip x Slip (Socket)
Material: Industrial Grade Grey UPVC
Compatibility: 50mm Metric Pipe ONLY
- Ensure all three 50mm metric pipe ends are cut perfectly square and thoroughly deburred.
- Clean the pipe ends and the internal sockets of the tee with a dedicated PVC cleaner.
- Apply a layer of PVC primer to the pipe ends and all three internal sockets of the tee to soften the UPVC.
- Apply a liberal coat of heavy-duty solvent cement (specifically rated for large-diameter pipe) to both components.
- Push the pipes into the tee until they seat fully, giving a slight quarter-turn to ensure even glue distribution.
- Hold firmly for 60 seconds per joint. Allow at least 6 hours of cure time before introducing high-pressure water.
Pro Tips:
- Metric vs. Standard 2-Inch. A 50mm metric tee will not fit standard US 2-inch pipe. 50mm is approximately 1.97 inches, whereas standard US 2-inch pipe has a 2.375-inch OD. Always confirm your pipe diameter with a caliper before beginning a permanent solvent weld.
- Proper Priming. On a 50mm pipe, the surface area for the bond is massive. Proper priming is non-negotiable to ensure the solvent cement forms a true chemical weld that can withstand commercial pressures. Use a clear primer to maintain the industrial aesthetic.
- Support the Weight. 50mm water-filled pipes carry immense weight. To prevent stress on the tee's joints, always use 50mm Metric Pipe Carriers within 12 inches of the branch.
