CoralVue 1/2 Inch White PVC 90-Degree Slip x Slip Elbow Fitting (SKU: RF-129005WS)
The CoralVue 1/2 Inch White PVC 90-Degree Slip x Slip Elbow Fitting (SKU: RF-129005WS) is an essential compact fluid management component engineered to create precise right-angle directional shifts within pressurized aquarium plumbing loops, sump return lines, and custom reef filtration systems. When building high-performance marine filtration layouts, space inside the lower cabinet is always at a premium. Racks, skimmers, and media reactors leave very little room for sweeping pipe bends. This specialized aquarium fitting resolves tight-clearance hurdles, allowing you to wrap 1/2" fluid paths flush along cabinet framing walls, partition boundaries, and reservoir lips without wasting valuable physical space.
Molded to exact aquatic distribution standards, this fitting features a dual slip socket configuration (also known as a socket x socket connection). Both internal ports are precision-tapered to slide smoothly over standard 1/2" domestic Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC pipe walls. When bonded with professional PVC primer and solvent cement, the fitting forms an absolute chemical weld that completely eliminates leak risks. Its clean, high-purity white compound profile ensures full compatibility with standard marine plumbing lines, giving your filtration array a professional, bright, and organized appearance.
Key Features
Right-Angle Turn Configuration: Delivers clean 90-degree transitions to keep hard pipes organized neatly against walls or support beams, maximizing usable area inside sump enclosures.
Permanent Solvent-Weld Sockets: Tapered internal socket walls ensure a snug dry-fit before glue application, ensuring deep, secure primer coverage and full glue-weld depth.
Aquarium and Hydroponic Safe: Fired without plasticizers or volatile heavy metal stabilizers, ensuring it will never leach harmful chemicals into sensitive marine coral or freshwater fish systems.

- Cut your 1/2" PVC pipe cleanly at a true 90-degree angle using a dedicated wheel-cutter or fine-tooth saw. Remove all plastic burrs from the cut edge with sandpaper or a deburring tool.
- Test the connection by dry-fitting the pipe into the 90-degree elbow socket. The pipe should insert easily about halfway to two-thirds of the way down the socket track before tightening up.
- Clean the outside tip of the pipe and the internal socket walls of the 90-degree elbow with a dry rag to clear away all dust, moisture, and cutting debris.
- Apply a uniform layer of clear or purple PVC primer to the inside of the elbow socket and the outside edge of the pipe where it will sit inside the fitting.
- While the primer is still wet, apply an even coat of PVC solvent cement over the primed pipe end and a thin layer inside the fitting socket.
- Push the pipe firmly into the 90-degree elbow socket until it hits the bottom shelf. Give it a quick 1/4 turn to evenly spread the cement matrix, and hold it firmly in place for 15 seconds to prevent the pipe from pushing out as the glue cures.
Pro Tips:
- Reserve 90-Degree Bends for Low-Velocity Lines When Possible.
CRITICAL AQUARIUM PLUMBING DESIGN TIP: While 90-degree elbows are ideal for keeping plumbing tucked back tightly against walls, try to use them primarily on low-velocity or drainage sections. For high-velocity main return pump paths, using sharp 90-degree elbows increases total dynamic head pressure, making your pump work harder. If you must use a 90 on a pressure line, ensure your pump has adequate overhead capacity to offset the localized resistance.
- Never Skip the Priming Stage on New Layout Assembly. When gluing white PVC components, always use a dedicated PVC primer before adding your solvent cement. Skipping the primer phase to save time leaves the glossy exterior shell of the PVC slick and untouched. The primer chemically micro-softens the plastic surface, allowing the cement to dissolve and fuse both layers together into a permanent, structural weld.
- Allow a Full 24-Hour Cure Before Running Saltwater Pressure Tests. Even though solvent cement sets up physically firm within a few minutes, do not run full pump pressure tests or run system water through the line immediately. Wait at least 2 to 4 hours for low-pressure lines, and a full 24 hours for main display return loops. Running chemical saltwater through partially cured joints can weaken the structural integrity of the joint, leading to micro-leaks or complete blowouts later on.
