The Reef Octopus Regal 300-EXT is the flagship external recirculating protein skimmer, designed for the most demanding residential reef systems and commercial displays up to 740 gallons. Boasting a massive 12-inch wine-glass body, this skimmer utilizes a recirculating design where the VarioS-6S DC pump focuses entirely on air-water mixing within the reaction chamber. By using a separate feed pump (sold separately) to control the flow-through rate, the user can achieve absolute precision in dwell time—ensuring that organics are fully processed before water returns to the system.
Built with industrial-grade cast acrylic, the Regal 300-EXT is designed for high-capacity performance and longevity. The controllable DC technology allows for digital fine-tuning of the air intake, while the integrated safety float switch provides essential protection for external installations by preventing cup overflows. With a heavy-duty geared gate valve for water level adjustment and a design that optimizes foam concentration, the Regal 300-EXT provides commercial-level nutrient export for large-scale marine environments.

CoralVue, Inc. and Reef Octopus hereby guarantee this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of:
- Five (5) year warranty on pump body/housing
- Three (3) year warranty on Reef Octopus-branded controller
- One (1) year warranty on Power Supply, Impeller (and components), Rotor, Rear Bushing, and Gaskets
Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.
This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Assemble the skimmer body and ensure all O-rings and union connections are securely tightened for external use.
- Install the Regal 300-EXT on a level surface (either near the sump or in a dedicated equipment room).
- Connect a dedicated feed pump (not included) to the 25mm intake fitting.
- Plug the VarioS-6S pump and the collection cup float switch into the controller.
- Start the feed pump first to fill the skimmer body, then power on the VarioS-6S pump.
- Adjust the geared gate valve until the water level is at the transition point between the body and neck.
- Check for leaks at all connections during the first 48 hours of high-flow operation.
Pro Tips:
- Total Dwell Control. As a recirculating skimmer, the 300-EXT allows you to slow down the water throughput to increase contact time. For systems with extremely heavy bioloads, a slower feed rate (near the 1200 GPH range) can result in a significantly darker and more concentrated skimmate.
- Metric Hardware Integration. The Regal 300-EXT utilizes a 50mm Metric output and a 25mm Metric input. If you are hard-plumbing an external installation, we highly recommend using Metric Union Couplings on both lines to ensure the skimmer can be easily disconnected for annual maintenance.
- Automatic Neck Cleaning. Manually cleaning a 7-inch neck on a skimmer this size is a major task. To maintain peak performance and high-efficiency gas exchange, we recommend pairing this unit with a Reef Octopus Automatic Neck Cleaner (ANC).
