IceCap Reverse Osmosis Replacement Filter Canister
Maintaining high-purity water for delicate coral reefs requires reverse osmosis prefilters and deionization cartridges to seat squarely under consistent, leak-free pressure. The IceCap Reverse Osmosis Canister (SKU: IC-RI-FH01 / IP-RI-FH01) is the official OEM replacement clear 10-inch filter housing engineered specifically for IceCap Reverse Osmosis and RO/DI Systems (including 75, 100, 150, and 200 GPD 4-stage models and the Smart RO/DI system).
The prefiltration and DI stages of an RO/DI system operate under continuous hydraulic loads ranging from 40 to over 85 PSI. The IC-RI-FH01 features a heavy-duty reinforced top cap with threaded bracket-mounting bosses, paired with a transparent sump bowl that threads into a dual-seal perimeter channel. The clear sump enables aquarists to visually evaluate the lifespan of internal media—spotting rust and silt accumulation on spun sediment filters, checking carbon block cleanliness, and tracking the progressive exhaustion boundary of color-changing mixed-bed DI resin. Over years of cartridge changes, canisters can develop hairline stress fractures from overtightening, thread wear, or cloudy crazing from ambient light exposure. Installing an authentic IC-RI-FH01 housing restores leak-free structural integrity and factory performance.
Ideal Replacement Scenario
If your existing filter canister has developed hairline stress fractures around the neck threads, suffered cloudy crazing from UV/light exposure, cracked from freezing or accidental drops, or stripped its female mounting threads, installing an authentic IC-RI-FH01 restores leak-free structural integrity.

Installation & Replacement Guidelines:
Shut off the cold-water feed supply to your RO/DI system and open the output line to relieve standing pressure.
Depress the release collets on the input and output quick-connect fittings and disconnect the 1/4-inch tubing from the old canister.
Remove the stainless steel screws (IC-RI-SS01) securing the old canister cap to the mounting bracket.
Unscrew the threaded 1/4" NPT fittings from the old cap, clean their threads, and apply 2 to 3 wraps of Teflon tape.
Thread the fittings into the 1/4" NPT ports of the new IC-RI-FH01 cap, tightening by hand plus 1 to 1.5 turns with a wrench.
Mount the new cap to the system bracket using the stainless steel screws, driving them by hand until snug.
Lightly coat the perimeter O-ring with food-grade silicone lubricant, seat the filter cartridge inside the clear bowl, and thread the bowl onto the cap by hand until snug.
Reconnect the 1/4" tubing lines, slowly open the feedwater supply, and check for a watertight seal around the collar.
Pro Tips:
- Visually Track Cartridge Exhaustion Through Clear Walls. Take advantage of the transparent sump bowl by monitoring sediment contamination from the outside without unscrewing the housing. For DI canisters, watch the color-changing resin shift from blue/green to golden amber from bottom to top, scheduling replenishment when the color shift reaches the top inch.
- Never Exceed Hand-Tightness plus a Quarter Turn. Clear polymer filter sumps are vulnerable to stress fractures if over-torqued with a canister wrench. Always spin the housing on by hand until the O-ring meets the top sealing flange, then use the wrench for at most an additional 1/8 to 1/4 turn to seat the seal. Over-tightening crushes the gasket and can cause catastrophic bowl fracturing under line pressure.
