- Turn off all electrical power supplying your Reef Octopus pump controller hub via your GFCI outlet wall panel.
- Unthread the protective plastic locking collar on your current pump lead line and pull it straight out from the base port of your controller.
- Take your new 2-meter extension cable, locate the molded interior alignment notch on the male interface plug, and mate it straight into the female controller socket.
- Twist the outer threaded plastic collar clockwise until it is hand-tight to lock down the integrated moisture-proof gasket barrier.
- Take the opposite female end of the extension cable, carefully align the structural keyway pins with the lead line coming directly from your pump, and push them firmly together.
- Hand-tighten the remaining compression lock ring, organize your extended line safely away from active water areas, and re-engage the main power supply.
Pro Tips:
- Align the Keyways Straight. When marrying the circular extension fittings together, never twist or rotate the plug housings while forcing them into place. These connections are engineered with precise internal guide rails that only align in one specific direction. Forcing a twisted connection can easily bend or break the fine, gold-plated internal conductor pins, permanently ruining the electrical current path and voiding your product support.
- Always Use Drip Loops. Even though this extension cord features heavy-duty, threaded waterproof compression collars, physics dictates that running water will follow any line downward. Always configure a pronounced, U-shaped physical "drip loop" along the extension line right before it meets your controller interface. This guarantees that if salt water accidentally creeps down the line during maintenance, it will harmlessly pool and drip to the floor rather than pooling inside an electrical union.
- Do Not Chain Multiple Extensions. While it is tempting to daisy-chain two or three extension cables together to route your wiring into an entirely separate room, we strongly recommend keeping to a single extension run per pump. Linking multiple extension points together creates multiple unnecessary structural failure zones for moisture to invade, and can gradually induce a slight voltage drop that alters peak motor performance.
