By integrating the high-performance VarioS-2S DC controllable pump directly inside the 6-inch reaction chamber, Reef Octopus has created a powerhouse filter that fits into compact sump compartments without sacrificing the efficiency of a full-size unit.
The defining feature of the Elite 150-S is the Super Cone body. Unlike standard cylinders, this tapered design naturally concentrates foam as it rises, reducing internal turbulence and allowing for a much more stable foam column. This results in significantly higher nutrient export for systems up to 210 gallons. Coupled with the intelligence of the VarioS controller—which features a 15/60 minute feed mode and a safety float switch—the Elite 150-S offers a level of control and security rarely found in compact skimmers.

WARRANTY
CoralVue, Inc. and Reef Octopus hereby guarantee this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of:
- Five (5) year warranty on pump body/housing
- Three (3) year warranty on Reef Octopus-branded controller
- One (1) year warranty on Power Supply, Impeller (and components), Rotor, Rear Bushing, and Gaskets
Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.
This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Ensure the VarioS-2S pump is securely mounted inside the Super Cone body and the venturi is connected.
- Place the skimmer in your sump, aiming for a water depth of 7 to 7.5 inches.
- Mount the float switch in the collection cup lid and connect it to the controller.
- Connect the pump to the controller and plug in the power supply.
- Open the geared gate valve fully and set the pump speed to Level 3.
- Gradually adjust the gate valve until the foam line is at the base of the cup's neck.
- Allow 14 days for the skimmer to break in before making final precision adjustments.
Pro Tips:
- Small Footprint, Big Performance. Because the 150-S is a space saver, the output is located at the base. Ensure the output valve is not blocked by sump walls or other equipment to maintain consistent internal water pressure.
- Metric Plumbing Standards. The Elite 150-S utilizes a 40mm Metric output. If you choose to hard-plumb the discharge, use a 40mm Metric Union to ensure you can still easily remove the skimmer for annual maintenance.
- Maintaining the Internal Pump. Because the pump is housed inside the body, keep an eye on the intake for stray snails or debris. We recommend a full teardown and vinegar soak of the VarioS pump every 6 months to ensure the DC motor remains silent and efficient.
