The Reef Octopus Regal 250-INT is an elite-level in-sump protein skimmer designed for massive residential reef tanks and commercial displays. With a substantial 10-inch wine-glass body, this skimmer provides the volume necessary to handle heavy biological loads in systems up to 600 gallons. It is powered by the VarioS-6S DC controllable pump, which allows the user to digitally dictate the air-to-water ratio, ensuring perfect performance regardless of the tank's unique water chemistry.
The Regal series represents the intersection of luxury build quality and intelligent automation. The VarioS controller provides a "soft start" to prevent overflow upon startup and includes a waterproof connection for the included waste collector float switch. This safety feature is critical for large systems, as it instantly shuts down the pump if the collection cup reaches capacity. CoralVue, Inc. and Reef Octopus hereby guarantee this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of:
- Five (5) year warranty on pump body/housing
- Three (3) year warranty on Reef Octopus-branded controller
- One (1) year warranty on Power Supply, Impeller (and components), Rotor, Rear Bushing, and Gaskets
Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.
This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
Verify the VarioS-6S pump is correctly seated and the venturi is attached securely.
Place the skimmer in your sump in at least 7.5 inches of water.
Mount the float switch in the collection cup lid and connect it to the controller.
Connect the VarioS-6S pump to the controller and power on the unit.
Set the pump speed to Level 3 for the initial break-in period.
Adjust the geared gate valve until the water level is at the transition of the body and neck.
Allow 14–21 days for the acrylic to break in before making final tuning adjustments.
Pro Tips:
- Metric Plumbing Standards. The Regal 250-INT utilizes a 50mm Metric output. If you are integrating this into a hard-plumbed drain system, be sure to use a 50mm Metric Union to allow for easy removal of the skimmer for deep cleaning.
- Vinegar Soak. Because of its size, deep cleaning the Regal 250-INT can be a task. We recommend a full teardown and vinegar soak of the VarioS-6S pump every 6 months to prevent calcium carbonate from affecting the controllable DC motor's performance.
- Skimmer Neck Cleaning. For maximum efficiency on a 10-inch skimmer, the neck must stay clean. Consider adding a Reef Octopus Neck Cleaner (ANC) to automatically wipe the neck, keeping your skimmer at peak performance between cup cleanings.
