Everyday Marine Pellet Food for Small to Mid-Size Reef Systems

The Dymax Marine Superior Pellet Food (160g) is a 1.6mm highly digestible small pellet for herbivorous and omnivorous marine fish in reef and fish-only saltwater systems. The 160g container is the standard everyday size in the Marine Superior line, offering enough volume to feed a small to mid-size reef system for several weeks without the bulk of the 560g container. The formula is the same as the 60g: 40% protein built from spirulina, seaweed, algae, krill meal, mussel meal, and fish meal, with astaxanthin for color, garlic for palatability, and β-Glucan alongside Bacillus Subtilis for immune and digestive support.

The 1.6mm small pellet size works well for a wide range of reef community fish, including tangs, angelfish, wrasses, clownfish, and dartfish, providing consistent access to the pellet across species of different mouth sizes. High digestibility reduces waste output in the water column, which helps manage nitrate and phosphate in reef systems where nutrient export capacity is always a consideration.

Manufactured without artificial colors or preservatives under strict quality control standards.

Key Features:

  • 1.6mm small pellet suited for a wide variety of small to medium marine reef fish species
  • 40% protein from marine meal sources, including krill, mussel, and fish meal
  • Contains marine algae, spirulina, and seaweed to cover herbivorous and omnivorous dietary needs
  • Astaxanthin included for natural color enhancement alongside spirulina
  • Garlic included to encourage acceptance from finicky or newly introduced fish
  • β-Glucan supports immune system function against bacterial and parasitic challenges
  • Bacillus Subtilis probiotic supports digestive efficiency and reduces waste output
  • Highly digestible formula minimizes nutrient loading in reef systems
  • No artificial colors, preservatives, or harmful additives
  • 160g / 400ml provides a practical regular-supply quantity for most hobbyist reef tanks

Ideal For:

  • Small to mid-size reef tanks with regular stocking.
  • Marine hobbyists who have already introduced their fish to the pellet and are ready to stock a regular supply size after trialing the 60g.
  • Retail shops carrying both the 60g and 160g as a natural upsell path for returning customers.

Pro Tips:

  • Target-feed slow or less competitive fish separately if needed. In a community reef system, dominant fish such as large angelfish or tangs can monopolize a pellet drop. A turkey baster or target feeding tube allows you to direct pellets to less aggressive species or to fish in a specific area of the tank.
  • Match the feeding frequency to your protein skimmer and water change schedule. Marine Superior is highly digestible, but every feeding still adds nutrients to the system. Tanks with active protein skimming can absorb more frequent feedings; lower-nutrient systems benefit from once-daily feeding with a small portion.
  • Do not let pellets sit in the food container after opening without resealing. Humidity causes marine fish pellets to soften and clump, which makes accurate portion control harder over time. Keep the lid tight after every feeding.

While most of our equipment carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty, consumable products like fish and coral foods are not covered under traditional warranty terms due to their perishable nature and varied storage conditions. However, we fully stand behind the quality of every product we sell. If you experience any issues with your food purchase shortly after receiving it, such as concerns about freshness, packaging integrity, or product quality, please contact us at [email protected]. We're committed to making it right and will work with you to resolve any problems quickly and fairly.

Instructions:

  1. Feed once to twice daily in small amounts. Only add what your fish will consume within two to three minutes.
  2. Optionally, soak the pellets in a small amount of tank water for 30 seconds before adding to the tank to soften them and reduce rejection by finicky fish.
  3. Observe the tank during feeding and remove any uneaten pellets after three to five minutes using a fine net or turkey baster.
  4. Store the container in a cool, dry location with the lid tightly sealed between feedings.
  5. For fish being introduced to pellets for the first time, offer a small amount alongside a familiar food and gradually increase the proportion of pellets over two to four weeks.
