- Dual-Action Chemical & Mechanical Matrix: Captures free-floating debris while simultaneously absorbing dissolved organic waste, foul odors, and chemical discoloration.
- Universal Cut-to-Size Freedom: Expansive 10 by 18-inch physical footprint can easily be trimmed down with standard scissors to custom fit any filtration tray or box layout.
- Rapid Water Clarification Polishing: High-density weave traps micro-particles to polish cloudy water to a crystal-clear finish in freshwater, marine, and pond setups.
- Safe Medication Removal: Highly efficient at drawing out residual chemical treatments, antibiotics, and water-softening dyes once a livestock treatment cycle finishes.
- Multi-Layer Pad Compatibility: Engineered to layer cleanly alongside specialized media pads, including IceCap nitrate reducers, ammonia removers, and poly-fiber sheets.
- Prevents Nutrient Spikes: Traps solid organic waste before it has a chance to decay, actively lowering the total bioload and reducing future ammonia or nitrate surges.

IceCap Carbon Infused Aquarium Filtration Pad (IC-CBP)
The IceCap Carbon Infused Filter Pad (SKU: IC-CBP) is an authentic, multi-tier water-polishing sheet distributed by CoralVue to streamline chemical and mechanical maintenance across freshwater, marine reef, and pond environments. In a closed aquatic ecosystem, free-floating particles—like fish waste, uneaten food flakes, and floating plant decay—cloud the water column and degrade total light penetration. Over time, these trapped organics break down into harmful dissolved nutrients. While standard polyester pads handle larger fragments, they let finer molecular discoloration, yellowing acids, and tank odors pass completely unhindered. The IC-CBP bridges this gap by infusing pulverized active carbon deep into a rigid, non-reactive fibrous web.
Measuring 10 by 18 inches, this heavy-duty pad completely eliminates the need for expensive, pre-shaped proprietary filter replacements. Its thin, flexible, yet structurally sound profile allows you to cut out custom configurations to fit wet/dry trickle trays, external canister filter baskets, hang-on-back power filters, modular media cups, or open sump baffles. As water streams through the dense network of fibers, the mechanical grid isolates large and micro-particulates, while the embedded activated carbon locks down dissolved toxins, yellowing pigments, and fishy odors on contact. Pliable and long-lasting, it serves as an excellent chemical security blanket for maintaining immaculate, odor-free, and crystal-clear water.
Key Features
- Protects Complex Aquarium Lighting: Removing yellow water tint significantly increases the depth penetration of high-end LED reef and planted tank lighting arrays.
- Safe for Delicate Invertebrates: Contains zero chemical binders, heavy glues, or phosphates that could leach out and cause unwanted algae blooms or shock sensitive corals.
- Improves Fish Respiration: Traps physical debris before it can settle and decay into the substrate, preserving high levels of dissolved oxygen within the water column.
Note: This filtration accessory includes one standalone 10x18-inch carbon-infused pad sheet. Custom trimming tools, specialized biological media, and hardware reactors are sold separately.

While most of our equipment carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty, consumable products like fish and coral foods are not covered under traditional warranty terms due to their perishable nature and varied storage conditions. However, we fully stand behind the quality of every product we sell. If you experience any issues with your food purchase shortly after receiving it, such as concerns about freshness, packaging integrity, or product quality, please contact us at [email protected]. We're committed to making it right and will work with you to resolve any problems quickly and fairly.
- Unbox your IceCap carbon pad and place it flat against a clean surface. Take your filter's old media cartridge or tray to use as a direct cutting stencil template.
- Use standard sharp kitchen shears or a utility blade to trim the 10x18-inch pad down into your required shapes. Tip: Save the leftover small scrap pieces to tuck inside nano filters or media cups later.
- Rinse the cut pad piece briefly under a freshwater tap or in a bucket of reverse osmosis (RO) water to rinse away any loose carbon dust created during the cutting process. Do not use soap.
- Slide the pad into your filter path, ensuring it covers the entire width of the tray. Position it so that raw incoming water strikes it after passing through coarse foams, but before cascading down onto biological media blocks.
- Ensure the pad sits completely flat inside the chamber with no folded or curled edges to prevent raw water from bypassing the carbon mesh.
- Remove and replace the pad section every 2 to 4 weeks, or sooner if heavy particle accumulation slows down your filter's output flow.
Pro TIps:
- Always Position the Carbon Pad Downstream From Coarse Foam Pre-Filters. To get the absolute longest life and best performance out of your carbon-infused pad, always place it after your mechanical pre-filtration steps (like coarse sponges, filter socks, or roller mats). If raw, debris-heavy aquarium water dumps directly onto the carbon pad first, large chunks of fish feces and plant rot will rapidly shell over the surface. This creates a physical block that smothers the fine carbon granules, rendering their chemical absorption capabilities useless long before the carbon is actually exhausted.
- Use Leftover Scrap Trim Pieces to Line Clear Media Cups. Don't throw away the thin strips and corner fragments left over after cutting out your main filter shapes. Keep a small storage container in your fish room for these scraps. They are the perfect size to drop inside clear 4-inch drop-in acrylic media cups or nano all-in-one rear chambers. Tucking a few small carbon scraps into these tight spaces provides a quick, zero-waste chemical polishing zone that can easily be tossed out during weekly filter maintenance.
- Discard and Replace the Pad Immediately Following an In-Tank Medication Cycle. If you have to treat your display tank or quarantine system with aggressive medications, copper treatments, or antibacterial remedies, leave the carbon pad completely out of the filter during treatment hours (as the carbon will instantly absorb the medicine, rendering it useless). Once your dosing timeline wraps up completely, slide a freshly cut IceCap carbon pad into the tray. It will quickly pull out the residual water tint and medications, restoring clarity and resetting your baseline water chemistry safely.
