The Octo Regal 250INT/SSS Collection Cup (SKU: ROP-CC-RG250I) is the official OEM replacement acrylic collection cup engineered specifically for both the Reef Octopus Regal 250INT (Internal) and Reef Octopus Regal 250SSS (Space Saver) in-sump protein skimmers.
Driven by the controllable VarioS-6 S DC skimmer pump, the 10-inch cone body of the Regal 250 generates high volumes of organic foam that travel through its wide 5.5-inch neck riser into the collection reservoir. The ROP-CC-RG250I is tailored to match this large-diameter neck geometry, maintaining balanced internal chamber pressure and providing high waste volume capacity for heavy bioload systems up to 600 gallons. A built-in lower drain port provides the flexibility to run the cup sealed with the included silicone plug or connected via flexible vinyl hose to an auxiliary waste collector or float-switch reservoir. Installation & Maintenance Guidelines:
Pause or switch off the VarioS skimmer pump using the controller feed mode.
If plumbed to an external waste container, detach the flexible drain hose from the drain barb.
Grasp the old collection cup with both hands and lift it straight upward off the skimmer cone neck.
Clean away any accumulated organic grease or salt crust from the skimmer body neck lip using a soft, damp microfiber towel.
Rinse the new ROP-CC-RG250I cup and lid under lukewarm freshwater to remove packaging dust.
If using an external waste collector, attach your vinyl drain hose to the cup's drain port barb; if collecting waste inside the cup, ensure the silicone drain plug is firmly seated.
Align the cup squarely over the 5.5-inch skimmer neck and press downward until seated firmly.
Place the vented lid squarely on top and restart the pump on your controller.
Pro Tips:
- Clean Exclusively with Soft Microfiber and Mild Citric Acid. Cast acrylic will scratch easily if exposed to abrasive kitchen scouring pads or stiff bristle brushes. To dissolve stubborn skimmate residues and mineral scaling without fogging or scratching the clear chamber, soak the cup in a lukewarm, mild citric acid bath for 15 minutes and wipe clean with a plush microfiber cloth.
- Maintain a Clean Inner Riser Neck. A buildup of greasy organic compounds inside the inner riser tube creates surface tension that causes rising bubbles to burst prematurely before spilling over into the cup reservoir. Running a compatible automatic neck wiper or manually wiping the inner riser tube every 3 to 4 days maintains optimal foam fractionation and rich, dark skimmate production.
