The Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 2 Wet Side Magnet Mount (SKU: ROP-OP2-WSMAG) is an authentic factory-spec replacement internal anchor cradle designed to hold your aquarium circulation pump securely. Submerged wavemaker mounts are exposed to constant physical stress from directional water torque and harsh environment tracking inside marine reef aquariums. Over time, an internal magnet can accumulate heavy coralline algae buildup, suffer structural damage if dropped onto rockwork during cleanings, or wear at the joint socket. This genuine wet-side replacement hardware instantly restores a safe, factory-original hold.
Constructed using powerful rare-earth magnetic material fully encapsulated in an inert, saltwater-safe polymer housing, this mount is engineered for indefinite underwater duty cycles. The unique concave face of the mount acts as a highly adjustable socket joint. Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.
This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Turn off the main electrical power line to your wavemaker pump controller before handling your mounting setup.
- Reach into your aquarium and grab the active pump motor block firmly with one hand.
- Gently slide the old wet-side magnet assembly sideways along the glass wall away from the exterior dry magnet until the magnetic pull releases.
- Pop your pump's motor block out of the old wet-side cradle socket, and press it firmly into the socket of the new ROP-OP2-WSMAG mount until it seats.
- Place the new wet-side magnet assembly onto the interior glass surface, a few inches away from where your outside dry magnet is located.
- Slowly slide the internal wet-side mount toward the external dry magnet until the magnetic fields find each other and lock together securely.
Pro Tips:
- Never Snap the Wet and Dry Magnets Straight Together. Rare-earth aquarium magnets are incredibly powerful. When aligning your new replacement wet-side mount with your dry-side exterior block, never bring them straight toward one another. If they snap together directly from a distance, the intense force can smash the glass panel or painfully pinch your fingers. Always place the wet magnet far to the side on the interior glass and gently slide it over until it connects with the external magnetic field.
- Keep Sand Out of the Articulating Socket Joint. Whenever you perform a water change or disturb your sand bed for cleaning, check to make sure fine sand grains haven't settled inside the curved socket joint of your wet-side mount. If sand gets trapped between the rounded back of the motor block and the magnet cradle, it will act like sandpaper when you try to pivot the pump. This can score the plastic and lock up the articulation joint over time.
- Clean Off Scavenging Snails Periodically. Small herbivorous snails (like Asterina, Cerith, or Nerite snails) love to graze on the film algae that grows on the dark polymer surfaces of the wet-side magnet mount. During your regular 3-to-6 month deep cleanings, make sure to pop the pump out of the cradle and verify that no tiny snail shells have become wedged or crushed inside the swivel cup, as this will limit your 360-degree aiming capabilities.
