The Reef Octopus Octo Pulse 4 Dry Side Magnet Mount (SKU: ROP-OP4-DSMAG) is an authentic factory-spec external backing magnet distributed by CoralVue to preserve the secure placement of your high-volume wavemaker assembly. Driving a high-capacity 4,500 GPH circulation pump creates considerable mechanical torque and continuous physical vibrations. If your external backing magnet is dropped on a hard tile floor during a routine equipment overhaul, the impact can fracture the brittle internal rare-earth magnetic discs or crack the protective outer shell. A compromised external magnet cannot provide the clamping force necessary to support your pump, which can cause the internal motor block to slide down your glass pane and stir up your sand bed.
This genuine replacement hardware features a heavy-duty magnetic core enclosed in a durable, impact-resistant polymer casing. The side of the magnet that faces your aquarium is lined with a high-friction, soft-rubber dampening pad. This pad serves a dual purpose: it acts as a protective shield to prevent scratches on your glass or acrylic panels while dampening low-frequency motor hum before it can resonate through your viewing glass.

Warranty is activated on the date of purchase.
This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Turn off your wavemaker controller to cut power to the internal pump before shifting your mounting hardware.
- Securely grip the internal submerged wet-side pump assembly with one hand inside the aquarium to prevent it from dropping.
- With your free hand, slowly slide the old dry-side backing magnet sideways along the exterior glass until the magnetic connection releases.
- Clean the exterior glass surface thoroughly with a microfiber towel to remove any dust, salt film, or fingerprints.
- Place your new ROP-OP4-DSMAG dry side magnet flat against the exterior glass surface, keeping it several inches away from the internal pump's position.
- Slowly slide the new dry magnet toward the internal wet-side mount until you feel the magnetic fields engage and lock the pump firmly in place.
Pro Tips:
- Never Snap the Dry and Wet Magnets Straight Together. Rare-earth backing magnets possess incredible clamping pressure. When matching your new dry-side magnet up with the internal wet-side mount, never point them directly at each other and snap them together. The intense, sudden impact can easily shatter your aquarium glass pane or severely pinch your fingers. Always place the dry magnet on the exterior glass well out of alignment with the wet side, and gently slide it over until the magnetic field catches.
- Verify the Exterior Pad is Completely Dry Before Placement. Before placing your new dry magnet against the outside of your aquarium, double-check that the soft rubber contact pad is free of any water drops or moisture. If salt water gets trapped between the tight rubber pad and the exterior glass, it will eventually dry out and leave behind rough salt crystals. As you slide the pump around to adjust your flow angles later on, those hard crystals can trap debris and leave permanent scratches on your glass.
- Clean Your Dry Side Padding with a Soft Dry Cloth Only. If your external backing magnet accumulates dust or lint from your aquarium cabinet, wipe it down using a dry microfiber cloth or a blast of compressed air. Avoid spraying the rubber pad with household glass cleaners, chemical detergents, or rubbing alcohol. Harsh chemicals can break down and dry out the specialized rubber compound, causing it to lose its high-friction grip and crack over time.
