Octo BR110 BioPellet Reactor (OPEN BOX)
SKU: OB-OCT-BR110
- The Reef Octopus BR110 is a biopellet reactor that removes nitrates and phosphates from reef aquariums.
- Built for marine systems up to 250 gallons that use solid carbon dosing biopellet media for nutrient export.
- A cone bottom keeps biopellets tumbling evenly, preventing flow restriction seen in flat-bottom reactor designs.
- An acrylic mesh screen and screw-fastened lid contain media securely without the clogging risk of standard screens.

Biopellet Reactor for Reef Tanks
The Reef Octopus BR110 BioPellet Reactor is a 1,000ml external biopellet reactor for systems up to 250 gallons. It does not include a feed pump, which makes it a practical choice for hobbyists who already have a suitable pump on hand or who want to match the reactor to a specific return or circulation pump they're already running. The required feed pump flow range is 530-800 GPH.
The BR110 uses a reverse cone dispersement plate at the base to distribute incoming water flow upward through the media bed without channeling or hot spots. A durable acrylic sieve plate at the top retains pellets without restricting flow, and the lid seals with fastening screws for a secure, leak-resistant closure. Union fittings on the inlet and outlet make installation and removal straightforward, and the included threaded nozzles in 13mm, 17mm, and 20mm sizes give flexibility for connecting to different tubing or plumbing configurations.
Key Features:
- Cone bottom fluidizing design keeps biopellets in even suspension and disperses water upward without restricting flow
- 1000ml media capacity rated for marine aquariums up to 250 gallons
- Durable acrylic mesh screen retains biopellets inside the reactor without restricting water movement
- Screw-fastened lid provides a secure seal with no risk of pressure pop-off during operation
- Clear acrylic body allows visual confirmation that pellets are tumbling and media is not clumped or clogged
- Requires a feed pump delivering 530 to 800gph — pump not included
Ideal For:
- Reef aquariums from 100 to 250 gallons with elevated nitrate or phosphate levels that are not controlled by a protein skimmer alone
- Hobbyists running a solid carbon dosing program who need a dedicated reactor to keep biopellets in constant motion
- Sump-based systems with enough clearance for an external unit measuring 5.25" x 5.25" x 20.9"
Pro Tips:
- Match your feed pump flow rate to the reactor's requirement before you buy. The BR110 needs 530 to 800gph at the reactor inlet. Too little flow and the pellets will settle and clump. Too many pellets will escape past the screen. Size your pump with head pressure in mind, not just the rated max flow.
- Start with a lower pellet volume and increase gradually. Biopellet reactors can cause a bacterial bloom or nitrite spike if you load them to full capacity right away. Begin with 500ml, watch your parameters for two weeks, then add more media if needed.
- Point the reactor outflow toward your protein skimmer intake. The bacteria that colonize biopellets need to be exported before they die and decompose in your tank. Routing the reactor output directly to your skimmer dramatically improves nutrient removal efficiency.

- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.

Instructions:
- Download and review the OCT-BR110 Assembly Diagram from the CoralVue product page before beginning setup.
- Assemble the reactor body with the cone bottom insert and acrylic mesh screen in place. Secure the lid using the fastening screws until hand-tight.
- Load the reactor with biopellet media. Start with 500ml for the first two weeks rather than filling to the 1000ml rated capacity.
- Connect the inlet and outlet plumbing. Confirm all fittings are hand-tight and leak-free before powering the feed pump.
- Set your feed pump to deliver between 530 and 800gph at the reactor inlet.
- Adjust the flow until pellets are visibly tumbling in an even suspension without escaping past the screen.
- Route the reactor outflow toward the intake of your protein skimmer to improve export of the bacteria released by the pellets.
- Monitor nitrate and phosphate levels over the first two to four weeks. Adjust flow rate or media volume based on results.
- Inspect the mesh screen monthly for debris accumulation. Clean or replace if the flow through the screen is visibly restricted.
