Flipper Standard Stainless Steel Replacement Blades — 2 Pack (SKU: 252008)
The Flipper Standard Stainless Steel Replacement Blades (SKU: 252008 / UPC: 636045990251) are authentic, high-precision structural maintenance components distributed by CoralVue to preserve crystal-clear optical paths inside marine reef tanks and freshwater display aquariums. Over time, continuous contact with hard glass surfaces, dense calcified coralline algae, and green spot colonies will slowly round off and dull the leading edge of any scraper. Running a dull blade forces you to put more physical muscle into every pass and leaves annoying streaks behind. Keeping a fresh set of Standard stainless steel inserts loaded into your cleaner keeps your scraping efficiency high, slicing through hard deposits with half the effort.
The standout structural benefit of the 252008 design centers on its Low-Profile, High-Velocity Scrubbing Action. Measuring 2.5" x 0.6" x 0.2", each blade snaps perfectly flat against the scraping deck of your standard Flipper or Flipper Standard Float cleaner. This minimal footprint ensures the blade won't wobble or flex under the magnetic downforce required to pass through 1/4" to 1/2" thick panels. Formed explicitly out of a premium, salt-hardened marine steel matrix that resists corrosion, these blades deliver long-lasting performance on standard custom installations.
Key Features
Built and Rated Exclusively for Glass: Delivers exceptional scraping power on glass walls, cleanly removing hard crusts that plastic options struggle to lift.
Restores Factory Cleaning Performance: Instantly brings your magnetic cleaner back to its original efficiency line, reducing maintenance track times.
Keeps Sump and Pump Motors Safe: Traps moving calcified particles cleanly along the blade line rather than shattering them into loose shards that can jam pump impellers.
(Note: This retail package includes (2) individual Flipper Standard Stainless Steel Blades. The floating magnetic Flipper Standard cleaner chassis and plastic acrylic blades are sold under separate product categories).

- Disconnect your Flipper Standard internal wet module from the display glass and pull it safely out of the water column to change your blades on a clean, dry surface.
- Locate the side lifting tabs on the edge of the old blade. Gently lift up to release the blade from the tracking pins and slide it outward to discard it responsibly. Warning: Do not grab the raw sharp scraping edge during removal.
- Take a fresh stainless steel insert out of your 252008 box.
- Align the guide slots on the underside of the new blade with the matching pins on the Flipper Standard chassis head. Note: The structural design is directional and will only snap securely into place in one orientation.
- Push the blade firmly down and back until you hear a crisp click, indicating it is locked and seated evenly across the front profile of the scraper deck.
- Lower the loaded wet module back into your aquarium water, re-engage the external magnetic handle, and continue your routine aquarium maintenance.
Pro Tips:
- Never, Under Any Circumstances, Use These Metal Blades on Acrylic Aquariums. These marine-grade stainless steel blades are incredibly efficient at scraping hard algae off glass, but they should only be used on glass tanks. Acrylic panels are much softer than glass, and a metal blade will cause instant, deep scratches across the plastic. Always verify that your display setup is made of glass before using these replacement components.
- Replace Your Cleaning Inserts Every 3 to 6 Months. Even premium marine stainless steel will eventually lose its fine razor edge after months of scraping against hard glass and calcified coralline algae. If you notice your Flipper starting to leave thin streaks behind or requiring multiple passes over basic film algae, it's time for maintenance. Popping in a fresh blade from your 2-pack keeps it performing like new.
- Store Your Flipper in an Upper Corner to Keep the Blade Path Clear of Sand. When cleaning near your substrate sand line, always move slowly and check the scraper edge visually. If a piece of hard quartz sand gets caught between the blade edge and your glass, it can drag along and leave scratches. Storing your Flipper in an upper back corner of the tank when you're done helps prevent falling substrate debris from settling onto the cleaning pads.
