Reef Octopus VarioS & Octo Pulse Pump Controller Mount (ROP-VARIOS-CM)
The Reef Octopus VarioS Pump Controller Mount (SKU: ROP-VARIOS-CM) is an authentic factory-spec replacement wall cradle distributed by CoralVue to preserve the neat organization, hardware security, and long-term protection of your central aquarium electronics loop. When managing high-end variable-speed return pumps or wavemakers, letting the control modules sit loose on cabinet floors or hang unsupported by their power wires is a significant hazard. Loose placement exposes sensitive microprocessors to condensation pools, accidental salt spray splashes, and cord strain. This specialized slide-lock cradle allows you to anchor your controller to any vertical surface, safely elevating it off the ground and grouping your technical nerve centers cleanly together.
Constructed from dense, high-impact black ABS polymer, the ROP-VARIOS-CM is built specifically to handle the challenging, high-humidity environments found inside under-tank cabinetry. It features pre-drilled, countersunk structural screw tracks that mount perfectly flush, eliminating protruding hardware that could scratch your controller's casing. The bracket's internal slide rails match the original geometry of your controller's side grooves exactly, providing a secure, wiggle-free friction fit. This means you can confidently punch feed holds or change speed presets on the touchpad membrane without the control module slipping out of place. When it is time for maintenance, the open-top track lets you slide the entire module out in seconds without altering your mounting framework.
Key Features
Elevated Splash and Flood Protection: Safely suspends your pump driver above potential sump overflows, skimmer leaks, or condensation puddles.
Clean Wire Strain Relief: Supports the physical weight of heavy 3-conductor motor cables and AC adapter lines, preventing tension damage to the controller's structural plug terminals.
Passive Airflow Channel Layout: The back of the mount is designed to let ambient air circulate behind the controller, which helps dissipate heat and extends the lifespan of internal capacitors.
(Note: This replacement hardware includes the single molded black plastic slide cradle only. Structural mounting screws, wall anchors, and physical electronic pump controllers are sold separately).
Verified Hardware Compatibility
Reef Octopus Variable Return Drives: Serves as the official native matching cradle for the VarioS-2, VarioS-4, VarioS-6, and VarioS-8 Return Pump Controllers (including basic manual and WiFi+ smart upgrade variations).
Reef Octopus Fractionating Skimmer Drives: Holds all matching VarioS-2S, VarioS-4S, and VarioS-6S Skimmer Pump Controllers.
Octo Pulse Wavemaker Networks: Fully compatible with Octo Pulse 2 and Octo Pulse 4 Controllable Wavemaker Modules.

Technical Specs:
Official Manufacturing Title: Reef Octopus VarioS Pump Controller Mount
SKU / Factory Part Identifier: ROP-VARIOS-CM
Mounting Interface Style: Vertical Screw-Fastened Slide-Lock Cradle Frame
Material Matrix Composition: Marine-Grade Heavy-Wall Injection-Molded Black ABS Plastic
Primary Function: Controller Wall Attachment, Wire Strain Relief, & Splash Isolation
- Select a dry, stable, and easily accessible vertical surface on your equipment board or the outside wall of your tank stand, making sure it is elevated well above the highest possible water line of your sump.
- Hold the empty ROP-VARIOS-CM bracket against your chosen mounting spot and use a pencil to mark the center locations of the pre-drilled screw holes.
- If mounting to a solid wood panel, pre-drill shallow pilot holes. If installing on drywall, insert high-strength plastic anchors before moving forward.
- Align the cradle over your marks and secure it tightly using two flathead wood or sheet metal screws. Make sure the screws sit completely flush inside the countersunk recesses.
- Take your VarioS or Octo Pulse controller module, align its rear side tracks with the top opening of the mounted cradle, and slide it downward until it seats securely at the base of the track.
- Connect your heavy 3-conductor motor cords and power adapter jacks into the bottom sockets, making sure to leave a clean drip loop below the electronics bay.
Pro Tips:
- Never Mount Your Controller Directly Inside an Unvented Sump Space. Even though this durable ABS plastic bracket can handle accidental splashes, you should never mount your controller inside a tightly enclosed, unvented sump cabinet right above open water. Continuous humidity and salt creep will migrate into the controller casing over time, corroding the inner circuit board. Always mount the cradle on an external equipment board or inside an isolated, dry electronics cabinet compartment to ensure your smart gear stays fully protected.
- Use Stainless Steel Screws to Prevent Rusted Streaks. When securing this mount inside your aquarium stand, skip generic drywall or zinc-coated construction screws. Sump cabinets have naturally high humidity levels that will rust standard iron screws within a few months, leaving ugly rust stains down your wood panels and potentially seizing the hardware. Always use high-quality 316 stainless steel screws to ensure a clean, corrosion-free install that will remain easy to remove down the line.
- Ensure the Screw Heads are Fully Countersunk Before Sliding Your Controller In. Before you slide your expensive controller into the new bracket, rub your thumb over the installed screws to check that they sit flat. If you use a screw with a head that is too wide or rounded, it will protrude into the slide track instead of resting flush inside the countersunk recess. Forcing the controller down over a protruding screw will scratch the plastic backing or bind the module halfway into the track, making it very difficult to slide back out for cleanings.
