Reef Octopus CL200 Automatic Neck Cleaner
The Reef Octopus CL200 Automatic Neck Cleaner (ANC) is a high-performance upgrade designed to eliminate the most common cause of skimmer inefficiency: organic neck buildup. As waste is pulled from your aquarium, it coats the internal neck of the skimmer, creating a sticky layer that forces bubbles to pop prematurely. The CL200 solves this by automating the cleaning process, using a motorized lid to wipe the neck wall clean multiple times per day.
By maintaining a clear path for foam to climb, the CL200 ensures your skimmer operates at peak efficiency 24/7, resulting in a significantly higher volume of concentrated skimmate. This model is engineered for the 8-inch neck diameter found on the Reef Octopus Classic 200 series, Regal 200 series, and the robust SRO-3000 series. With its high-torque synchronous motor and durable silicone blades, the CL200 is an essential tool for any reef keeper looking to maximize their filtration while reducing manual maintenance.
Key Features
• Automated Efficiency: Motorized lid assembly removes waste before it can negatively impact foam production.
• Wide Compatibility: Designed for Classic 202-S, 200-INT/EXT, Regal 200-S/E/INT, and SRO-3000INT/EXT models.
• Twin Silicone Blades: Dual squeegees provide a thorough, streak-free clean of the internal skimmer neck.
• Improved Nutrient Export: Increases overall skimmate collection by keeping the foam path smooth and unobstructed.
• High-Torque Motor: Low-RPM synchronous motor provides silent, powerful rotation to push through thick organics.
• Professional Construction: Built with cell-cast acrylic and non-corrosive hardware for maximum durability in marine sumps.
Ideal For
• Owners of Reef Octopus 200 and SRO-3000 series skimmers looking to automate daily maintenance. • High-bio-load reef tanks where the skimmer neck becomes heavily coated in waste within hours. • Hobbyists who want to achieve the most consistent "dry" skimmate possible without daily scrubbing. • Travelers and professionals who need their filtration to remain at peak performance during long absences. • Systems where the skimmer is difficult to reach for frequent manual lid removal.

This unit will increase the height of your skimmer by approximately 4.75“. Our Octopus ANC does not require you to send in or modify your stock lid in any way because our ANC is built into the lid for precise control.
- Remove the existing collection cup lid from your Reef Octopus 200 or SRO-3000 skimmer.
- Install the squeegee blade assembly onto the drive shaft of the CL200 lid.
- Place the CL200 lid onto the collection cup, ensuring the blades are centered inside the neck.
- Connect the power supply to the motor and plug it into a standard timer or aquarium controller.
- Program the cleaner to run for 15–20 seconds, two to four times per day.
- Every few months, remove the blades and rinse with warm freshwater to remove any accumulated grit.
Pro Tips
Short cycles are best. You only need to rotate the blades a few times to clear the neck. Setting your timer for 20 seconds every 6 hours is much more effective (and better for the motor) than running it for long periods.
Be prepared for more skimmate. Once the CL200 is installed, your skimmer will pull waste more efficiently. Monitor your collection cup closely for the first week, as it may fill faster than it did with manual cleaning.
Always use a timer or controller. To maintain the 1,500-hour estimated lifespan of the high-torque motor, do not run the unit 24/7. Automated, short bursts are the industry-standard way to ensure your cleaner lasts for years.
