Balling Light Calcium Salt for Reef Tank Calcium Dosing
Fauna Marin Balling Salt Calcium Mix is a dry calcium salt made for the Balling Light method of reef dosing. Corals use up calcium as they build their skeletons, and this mix puts it back.
Fauna Marin makes its Balling Light salts to be high purity with the lowest water content. They also contain bioactive stabilizers, pH buffers, and minerals that help keep water chemistry steady. The added trace elements stay stable in solution, so corals can use them more easily. The mix supports coral growth and color without darkening the corals.
Key Features:
- High-purity salt with the lowest water content for more effective dosing
- Bioactive stabilizers, pH buffers, and minerals that improve the stability of key parameters
- Trace elements that stay stable in solution and stay available to corals
- Matched to modern sea salts
- Helps hold a stable pH
- Bioactive substances that support color development and coral growth
- Works with Fauna Marin Magnesium and Carbonate mixes to cover all three Balling Light salts
- Sold in 1KG, 2KG, and 4KG sizes
Ideal For:
- Reef aquariums that already run, or plan to run, the Balling Light method
- Reef keepers whose corals use calcium fast and who want to dose by measured tank consumption
- Hobbyists building a full Fauna Marin Balling Light routine with the magnesium, carbonate, and trace element products
Pro Tips:
- Calculate your dose. Do not guess. Every tank uses calcium at a different rate. Fauna Marin does not give one fixed dose. Use the AquaCalculator to work out the amount for your tank, then dose exactly that amount.
- Test calcium before you change anything. Fauna Marin recommends 380 to 420 mg/L. Test first, dose by your calculated amount, then test again to confirm your tank is holding steady.
- Dose in order. Fauna Marin's Balling Light directions say to add magnesium first, then calcium, then carbonate, with about 10 minutes between each. This keeps the salts from reacting with each other at full strength in the water.

Instructions*:
- Test your current calcium level. Fauna Marin recommends 380 to 420 mg/L.
- Use the AquaCalculator to work out the right amount for your aquarium. Exact dose amounts cannot be given because every tank is different.
- Dose the calculated amount exactly.
- If you also dose magnesium and carbonate, add magnesium first, then calcium, then carbonate. Wait about 10 minutes between each.
- Retest calcium and adjust your calculated dose as needed.
