Reef Octopus 24V VarioS 2(S) & 4(S) Replacement Power Supply (ROP-VARIOS-24PA)
The Reef Octopus 24V VarioS 2(S) & 4(S) Replacement Power Supply (SKU: ROP-VARIOS-24PA) is an authentic factory-spec AC/DC power conversion module distributed by CoralVue to re-establish continuous, high-efficiency electrical delivery across your filtration setup. Controllable DC aquatics platforms rely entirely on an external transformer block to step dangerous 100–240V household alternating current down to a safe, highly stabilized 24-volt direct current. Because your system's main return lines or protein skimmer pumps run nonstop, this industrial switching power brick is constructed with premium internal capacitors capable of handling heavy electrical demands.
Operating electronics inside an aquarium stand presents a uniquely challenging environment. Over time, high ambient humidity, micro-fine salt spray, or localized utility line surges can strain the internal circuitry of an aging transformer, causing it to run excessively hot or stop delivering voltage altogether. When a power supply begins to fail, your pump may display erratic speed shifts, trigger flashing warning codes on the controller screen, or simply fail to start. Swapping out a compromised or dead transformer with this genuine OEM module completely safeguards your equipment investment, ensuring clean voltage and factory-calibrated current to keep your primary aquarium lifecycle perfectly stable.
Key Features
True Factory Power Scaling: Delivers an exact 24V/2.5A energy curve, preventing under-voltage motor stalls or over-amperage electronic driver damage.
Broad Input Voltage Architecture: Features smart auto-switching input logic compatible with 100V to 240V global electrical grids running at 50Hz or 60Hz frequencies.
Reinforced Locking Connection Collar: Heavy threaded locking nut anchors the output cable into your controller port, preventing tension drops or moisture creep.
(Note: This replacement assembly includes the main sealed AC/DC transformer brick with integrated output lead cord only. The standard 3-prong wall socket power cable is sold separately).
Verified Hardware Compatibility
Reef Octopus VarioS Pump Networks: Form-cut natively to power the VarioS-2 Controllable Return Pump, VarioS-2S Skimmer Pump, VarioS-4 Controllable Return Pump, and VarioS-4S Skimmer Pump.
Legacy Reef Octopus DC Infrastructure: Fully backwards-compatible with the native engine electronics of legacy RODC-3500(S) and RODC-5500(S) pump platforms.
(Note: This unit operates strictly on a 24V power grid. Large-bore pump networks like the VarioS-6, VarioS-8, or VarioS-10 platforms pull significantly more power and utilize entirely different 36V transformer architectures).
What’s Included:
(1) Reef Octopus Replacement 24V AC/DC Power Supply Transformer Brick with Integrated 24V Controller Lead Line
(Note: Standard 3-prong wall outlet input cables, variable-speed electronic controllers, and primary pump assemblies are sold separately).

Primary Function: High-Voltage AC Step-Down and DC Current Stabilization
- Disconnect the broken or damaged transformer brick from your wall socket before uncoupling any underlying electronic cable paths.
- Locate the threaded waterproof union joint where the transformer's output cable meets the lower control tail of your VarioS controller.
- Twist the knurled plastic locking collar counter-clockwise to release the compression seal, and pull the two pins straight apart.
- Wipe the controller plug face with a dry microfiber cloth to verify that no moisture, salt creep, or condensation is present in the pin tracks.
- Take your fresh ROP-VARIOS-24PA power supply, align the internal positioning alignment tabs on the plug face, and slide the cables firmly together.
- Hand-tighten the plastic locking collar clockwise until snug, plug your 3-prong wall cord into the transformer body, plug into the wall socket, and power up.
Pro Tips:
- Always Elevate the Transformer Brick Off the Floor. Never allow this power supply brick to lay flat on the floor of your aquarium cabinet or directly underneath active plumbing manifolds. If an accidental line leak, skimmer overflow, or sump spray event occurs, a floor-mounted brick will quickly submerge, leading to catastrophic short circuits or household fire hazards. Mount the brick onto a wall panel or lift it off the deck using heavy-duty hook-and-loop tape to ensure it stays in a dedicated dry zone.
- Ensure Free Air Circulation Around the Casing. Because switching power supplies naturally generate minor ambient heat while dropping high-voltage utility current down to 24V DC, they require passive airflow to regulate their internal temperature. Never bundle the transformer brick inside a tight mass of alternative cords, or stuff it deep inside unventilated equipment bins. Keeping the brick in an open area lowers operating temperatures, protecting the internal capacitors and dramatically extending the lifetime of the unit.
- Drip Loops Are Non-Negotiable on Both Ends. Whenever you are running power cords from an aquarium environment into a live transformer block, always form a distinct, U-shaped "drip loop" along both the high-voltage input cord and the low-voltage output line. Ensure the lowest point of the hanging cable drops significantly below the level of the plugs. If moisture or salt creep ever travels down the wire, the drip loop forces it to pool and drop harmlessly to the ground before it can reach the sensitive electrical contacts of your new power supply.
