Reef Octopus Volute Fastener Screws (SKU: ROP-SCREW-HY)
Maintaining a leak-free and structurally sound pump assembly depends on high-quality housing hardware. The Reef Octopus Water Blaster/Bubble Blaster Volute Screws (SKU: ROP-SCREW-HY) are the official factory replacement fasteners used to secure the front volute cover to the motor block housing. Over years of continuous operation, original screws can become misplaced during routine acid baths, stripped from overtightening, or binding from heavy calcium build-up. Replacing damaged or lost hardware ensures your pump volute maintains even, high-pressure clamping force across its perimeter seal.
Unlike low-grade stainless steel fasteners that eventually pit, rust, or stain surrounding plastics in high-salinity marine environments, these genuine Reef Octopus screws are engineered from marine-grade titanium. Titanium is completely non-reactive in saltwater and ozone, ensuring zero chemical leaching into sensitive reef systems and absolute immunity to corrosion.
Cross-Series Universal Compatibility
Whether you are running a compact return pump on a nano system or a commercial-grade pinwheel skimmer pump on a massive display, this single screw SKU fits standard Reef Octopus AC pump volutes across all capacities.
(Note: This retail SKU contains (1) pack of (4) individual replacement titanium volute screws. Volute covers, rubber O-rings, and pump motor blocks are sold under separate product categories).

How to Replace Volute Screws:
Turn off power to the pump and carefully remove it from your sump or skimmer assembly.
Using an appropriately sized Phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the four existing volute cover fasteners in a diagonal cross pattern.
Remove the volute housing cover to inspect the internal impeller and main O-ring gasket.
Clean any accumulated detritus or calcium scale out of the receiving screw holes on the pump motor block using a soft brush.
Realign the volute faceplate over the rubber O-ring seal.
Hand-thread all four new ROP-SCREW-HY screws into the mounting holes to avoid cross-threading the plastic housing.
Tighten the screws gradually in a star/cross pattern (Top-Left, Bottom-Right, Top-Right, Bottom-Left) to ensure equal pressure across the O-ring gasket.
Pro Tips:
Do Not Overtighten Into Plastic Housings.
CRITICAL MAINTENANCE WARNING: The receiving threads on the pump motor block are molded plastic. Tighten the titanium screws until they are snug and compress the rubber O-ring. Do not use power tools or apply excessive manual force, as over-torquing can strip the plastic threads inside the motor block.
Tighten Screws in a Cross Pattern. To guarantee a 100% watertight seal and prevent micro-leaks (especially when running pumps inline externally), always tighten the four screws incrementally in a criss-cross sequence. Tightening one side completely down first can pinch the internal O-ring or warp the face of the plastic volute.
Store Extra Fasteners in Your Service Kit. Volute screws are small and easily lost when rinsing pump parts in a sink or bucket during maintenance. Keeping a spare set of ROP-SCREW-HY in your aquarium toolkit ensures you won't be left stranded with an non-operational pump on cleaning day.
