4-Stage RO/DI System for Reef, Saltwater, and Freshwater Aquariums

The IceCap 75 GPD RO/DI System is a four-stage water filtration unit that produces purified water suitable for reef, saltwater, and freshwater aquariums. It connects to a standard cold water supply line and operates on household water pressure with no pump or power source required. At 75 gallons per day output, it is the entry-level model in the IceCap RO/DI line and is well suited to hobbyists with smaller systems who fill or top off regularly.

The system filters water through four stages in sequence. Stage 1 is a 5-micron IceCap polypropylene sediment filter that removes particulates and suspended solids that would foul the membrane. Stage 2 is a 5-micron IceCap carbon block filter that removes chlorine, chloramines, and organic compounds that degrade RO membrane performance. Stage 3 is the Dow Filmtec BW60-1812-75 reverse osmosis membrane, rated at 96 to 99% typical salt rejection at 50 PSI. Stage 4 is a refillable mixed-bed DI resin cartridge that polishes RO permeate to near-zero TDS. The color-changing resin transitions from dark to light as capacity is exhausted, giving a clear visual indicator of when refilling is needed.

The system includes an auto shut-off valve, a manual flush flow restrictor, a glycerin-filled pressure gauge, and all installation fittings and tubing.

Key Features:

  • Four-stage filtration: sediment, carbon block, Dow Filmtec RO membrane, mixed-bed DI resin.
  • Dow Filmtec BW60-1812-75 membrane provides 96 to 99% typical salt rejection at 50 PSI.
  • Refillable DI cartridge with color-changing resin provides a visual indicator of resin exhaustion.
  • Auto shut-off valve stops feed water when the product container is full.
  • Manual flush flow restrictor for routine membrane maintenance.
  • No power source required; runs on 50 to 80 PSI household water pressure.
  • Standard 10" canisters and 1/4" push-connect fittings for easy filter replacement.
  • Glycerin-filled pressure gauge included.
  • 3:1 waste-to-product ratio.

Ideal For:

  • Hobbyists with smaller reef, saltwater, or freshwater systems who want a reliable home RO/DI source.
  • ATO top-off systems where purified water is added daily on smaller tank setups.
  • Installations where supply pressure is reliably between 50 and 80 PSI without a booster pump.
  • First-time RO/DI buyers looking for the most affordable entry point in the IceCap line.

  • To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
  • To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
  • To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
  • That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
  • That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.

Instructions:

  • Check feed water pressure. Confirm your tap water line delivers 50-80 psi. Use the included glycerin-filled pressure gauge after installation to verify. If pressure is below 50 psi, a booster pump is required before the system for consistent output.
  • Mount the bracket. Secure the filter bracket to a wall or cabinet in a location within reach of your feed water supply line and a drain for the waste line. Keep it out of freezing temperatures.
  • Connect feed water. Use the included installation fittings to connect the system's inlet to your cold water supply line via ¼-inch push-connect tubing.
  • Connect the waste line. Route the concentrate (waste) line to a drain using the provided fittings. Do not restrict or cap the waste line — this will damage the membrane.
  • Connect the product line. Run the purified water output line to your storage container.
  • Flush before use. Run the system for a minimum of 30 minutes before collecting water for use. Discard this initial flush volume to clear preservatives from the membrane and carbon fines from the block filter.
  • Verify output TDS. Use a TDS meter on the DI output to confirm 0 ppm before using water in your system. Color-changing resin in the DI cartridge will begin shifting from blue/purple to yellow/amber as it exhausts.
Filter replacement intervals (general guidance — actual intervals depend on feed water quality):
  • Stage 1 – Sediment filter: every 6-12 months
  • Stage 2 – Carbon block: every 6-12 months
  • Stage 3 – RO membrane: every 2-5 years
  • Stage 4 – DI resin: when color change is visible, or when output TDS rises above 0 ppm

Pro Tips:

  • Check your home water pressure before purchasing. The 75 GPD model requires 50 to 80 PSI optimal feed pressure. Below 50 PSI, output drops and the waste ratio worsens. If supply pressure is under 50 PSI, a booster pump is strongly recommended.
  • Test product water TDS before filling your tank. A TDS meter is the most practical way to verify the system is working correctly. Product water with fresh resin should read 0 to 2 ppm TDS.
  • Flush the membrane before first use. Run water to drain for 30 to 60 minutes before collecting product water to clear the membrane preservative.
