High-performance aquarium LED fixtures like the EcoTech Marine Radion XR30 deliver intense PAR and customizable color blending, but their centralized clustered diodes can create significant self-shadowing as branching stony corals expand. As upper coral branches thicken, they block light from reaching lower lateral branches and encrusting bases, leading to tissue recession, bleaching, and reduced polyp extension. The Reef Brite XHO K-Series Add-On Kit (2 x 14-3/4") (SKU: RB-XHO-K30 / XHO-K30) is the official OEM hybrid lighting retrofit engineered specifically for EcoTech Marine Radion XR30 and AI Hydra 52/64 LED Fixtures.
The RB-XHO-K30 kit attaches two 14.75-inch Reef Brite XHO (Extra High Output) LED light strips to the front and back perimeter of the Radion XR30 housing using heavy-duty anodized aluminum brackets. Each bar features custom extruded aluminum heat-sink profiles and optimized reflector optics housing 3-watt Actinic Blue diodes. By directing twin sheets of high-excitation 450nm and 470nm blue-violet light inward from outer angles, the kit effectively eliminates harsh point-source shadows, bathing the entire coral perimeter in uniform, photosynthetically active radiation. Concurrently, the specialized actinic spectrum stimulates green fluorescent proteins (GFP) and red fluorescent proteins (RFP), creating vibrant coral fluorescence that cluster LEDs alone cannot match. The system integrates directly with existing EcoTech Radion Mounting System (RMS) single-arm or multi-light track systems and standard wire hanging kits without requiring custom drilling.

Installation & Assembly Guidelines:
Disconnect your Radion XR30 fixture from AC power and allow the heatsink to cool completely.
Remove the Radion XR30 from its mounting track or hanging cables and place it face-down onto a soft, clean towel.
Align the RB-XHO-K30 K-Series brackets with the mounting holes on the top/sides of the XR30 body or between the fixture and the RMS slide bracket.
Secure the brackets using the supplied stainless steel machine screws, tightening evenly until snug.
Attach the two 14.75-inch XHO LED light bars to the bracket arms, positioning one light bar along the front edge and the other along the rear edge with optics facing downward into the tank.
Connect each XHO light strip cable into the female terminal plugs of the included 2-way DC Y-splitter cable.
Connect the male end of the Y-splitter to the dedicated Reef Brite DC power supply (or inline dimmer/controller module).
Re-mount the completed hybrid assembly over the aquarium, securing all wiring with drip loops away from water splash.
Power on both fixtures and verify uniform light distribution across the reef footprint.
Pro Tips:
- Angle Bars Inward Toward the Central Reef Crest. When fastening the 14.75-inch XHO bars to the brackets, tilt the reflector optics slightly inward toward the center aquascape. This cross-angled lighting trajectory targets the sides of coral colonies, ensuring that light penetrates deep into the branching thickets rather than spilling unnecessary PAR onto the front and rear glass panes.
- Gradual Coral Photoperiod Acclimation. Adding dual high-output 14.75-inch XHO strips provides a substantial boost to total photosynthetically active radiation. To prevent photoshock or bleaching in light-sensitive Acropora and Montipora, introduce the XHO bars for only 2 hours daily during mid-day, increasing runtime by 30 to 45 minutes each week until reaching your desired supplemental schedule.
