- Turn off the protein skimmer pump.
- Remove the existing intake strainer or old venturi assembly from the pump intake.
- Connect the new ROP-AQBH100-V assembly to the pump intake, ensuring the air hose is properly attached to the venturi barb.
- Adjust the telescoping basket so the slats are partially submerged at the water's surface.
- Restart the pump and verify that the basket is drawing water from the surface without pulling in excess air.
Pro Tips
Find the Balance.
If the surface skimmer is gurgling or pulling in large gulps of air, the basket is set too high. Slide the telescoping basket down slightly until the water flows over the slats smoothly. Ideally, the water level should be halfway up the basket slats.
Clean the Slats Weekly. Because this part skim the surface, it often collects floating algae, fish food, or hair. Use a small soft brush during your weekly maintenance to clear the basket slats. A clogged basket will restrict flow to the pump and can cause the skimmer to overflow.
Maintain your Airline. Ensure the airline attached to the venturi barb is clear of salt creep. If the venturi side becomes clogged, the pump will stop producing micro-bubbles, even if the surface skimmer is drawing water correctly.
