Power Phos, 400kg - High-Performance Phosphate and Silicate Removal Media for Freshwater & Saltwater Aquariums
Key Benefits:
- Permanently binds and removes phosphates and silicates without leaching
- Maintains ultra-low nutrient levels for optimal coral health and coloration
- Effectively prevents unwanted algae growth (hair algae, cyano, diatoms)
- Pre-washed and ready to use - no rinsing required
- Suitable for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums
- High-capacity iron hydroxide formula for long-lasting effectiveness
- Enables corals to display their natural, vibrant colors
- Manufactured in Germany for consistent quality and performance
- Flexible use in reactors, filter bags, or mechanical filtration
Dosage & Usage Instructions:
- Initial Dosing: Start with 100 ml of Power Phos per 300 liters (79 US gallons) of water
- After 5 Days: Increase to 150 ml per 300 liters if needed based on phosphate testing
- Maximum Dosage: Do not exceed 200 ml per 300 liters of water
- Place between two layers of filter wool for passive filtration
- Use in a filter bag or mesh bag in sump
- Place in a fluidized bed reactor for maximum efficiency
- Regularly test PO4 levels with a quality phosphate test kit
- Replace media when phosphate levels begin to rise again
- Do not use at extremely low phosphate levels (below 0.03 ppm)
- Do not rinse or wash the media before use
- Normal for water to show a temporary red tint from fine particles (harmless and clears quickly)
- Media may warm slightly when first added to water (normal reaction)
Ideal For:
- Reef aquariums are struggling with elevated phosphate or silicate levels
- Tanks experiencing persistent algae problems (hair algae, diatoms, cyano)
- SPS coral keepers maintaining ultra-low nutrient systems (ULNS)
- Aquarists seeking to enhance natural coral coloration
- Both saltwater reef tanks and freshwater planted aquariums
- Systems using reactor-based filtration or passive media filtration
- Anyone looking to achieve and maintain crystal-clear water quality
- Quarantine or hospital tanks requiring rapid nutrient reduction
Pro Tips:
- Use a phosphate test kit to monitor levels weekly during initial treatment. Replace Power Phos when you see phosphate readings begin to creep back up, indicating the media is saturated.
- For best results in reef systems, place Power Phos in a fluidized bed reactor where constant tumbling action maximizes surface area contact with water.
- Don't drive phosphates too low too quickly - SPS corals can experience stress with sudden nutrient crashes. Gradual reduction over 2-3 weeks is ideal.
- The temporary red coloration when first adding Power Phos is normal iron hydroxide particles and will clear within hours. Run your protein skimmer to help clear it faster.
