Aquarium heaters are arguably the most critical—yet physically dangerous—components hidden inside filtration chambers. Traditional factory-included plastic clips rely on thin suction cups that easily dry out, harden, and snap loose under high water velocity. When a loose heater drops onto its side, it can easily press its high-temperature element directly against fragile acrylic baffles, melting structural joints or causing the built-in internal thermostat to misread current flow and overheat the display. The IC-MHB02 steps in to provide a rigid, permanent magnetic alternative.
This heavy-duty bracket organizes your layout by holding two separate glass or titanium heater elements side-by-side in a single, space-conscious footprint. The oversized 1-inch circular slots gently support your heaters while maintaining an open water buffer around the hot zones to maximize heat dissipation and flow turnover. This Standard Limited Warranty applies and is limited as follows:
- To the product only as long as it remains in the possession of the original purchaser.
- To the product that has not been subject to accident, misuse or abuse.
- To the product that has not been modified, altered, defaced, or had repairs made or attempted by other than CoralVue, Inc.
- That CoralVue be immediately notified in writing within ten (10) days of first knowledge of defect by owner or his agent.
- That CoralVue, Inc. shall be given first opportunity to make any repairs, replacements or corrections to the defective construction within a reasonable period of time.
- Under no circumstances shall CoralVue and/or the Manufacturer be liable by virtue of this warranty or otherwise for damage to any person or property whatsoever for any special, indirect, secondary or consequential damages of any nature however arising out of the use or inability to use because of the product defect.
- Unbox your IC-MHB02 magnetic bracket set. Separate the wet-side heater clip frame from the dry-side magnet. Warning: Keep the two magnetic pieces safely apart during unboxing to avoid pinching your fingers.
- Wipe clean the interior surface of your sump glass or acrylic baffle where you want to mount the holder to clear away fine grit.
- Unplug your aquarium heaters and let them cool down completely for 10 minutes before handling them.
- Carefully snap your heating elements into the circular 1-inch cutout paths on the wet-side holder bracket, positioning them so the main heating coils line up with the open center zone.
- Place the loaded wet-side holder against the inside tank glass below the waterline. Guide the dry-side external magnet into position from the outside until the magnets couple securely.
- Slide the assembly to its final location, ensuring it sits low enough that the water level always stays well above the minimum fill line marked on your heaters.
Pro Tips:
- Slide the External Magnet Onto the Glass Panel Rather Than Snapping It On Directly. Rare-earth aquarium magnets possess incredibly powerful physical attraction forces. When bringing the external dry-side magnet toward the wet-side bracket, never snap it straight against the glass. Doing so can cause a sharp impact that can scratch your acrylic or crack a glass panel. Instead, place the dry magnet far to the side or higher up on the glass, and slide it slowly toward the wet-side bracket until they connect gently.
- Pair This Dual Bracket with Dual Titanium Elements for Complete System Redundancy. Rather than relying on one single large heater (like a single 300W element) to warm your entire tank, use this dual holder to split the job between two smaller heaters (like two 150W elements). Hooking up two independent elements to a dual-stage controller ensures that if one heater fails or gets stuck off, the second element can easily step in to keep your tank from freezing, keeping your delicate livestock safe.
- Check the Seams and Clean the Magnet Faces During Quarterly Maintenance. Over months of continuous exposure to saltwater spray inside a cabinet sump, salt creep or calcification can build up along the bracket edges. Every few months, pull the holder assembly out, slide the heaters out of the clips, and wipe down the magnetic faces with a clean, soft cloth soaked in warm fresh water or white vinegar. This prevents hard debris from getting trapped between the magnet and the glass, protecting your tank panels from accidental cosmetic scratches during position adjustments.
