IceCap Reverse Osmosis 1/4-Inch Male Run Tee Fitting

Splitting water lines or installing monitoring accessories directly onto reverse osmosis filter housings often requires multi-directional plumbing connections. The IceCap Reverse Osmosis Male Run Tee 1/4in Thread x 1/4in Tube (SKU: IC-RI-Q7544 / IP-RI-Q7544) is the official OEM three-way adapter fitting engineered specifically for IceCap Reverse Osmosis and RO/DI Systems and universal 1/4-inch aquatic water purification equipment.

A standard tee fitting requires intermediate nipples or tubing stubs to interface with female threaded components. The IC-RI-Q7544 male run tee integrates a 1/4-inch male NPT threaded connection on one leg of its straight "run," with two 1/4-inch quick-connect push-fit ports—one continuing straight through the run and one extending at a 90-degree branch. This configuration threads directly into the female 1/4-inch NPT ports of 10-inch canister caps, pressure gauge blocks, or booster pump manifolds. It allows aquarists to branch an incoming feed line, split DI output to multiple reservoirs, or route water simultaneously through a stage and off to a pressure switch or sample valve without stacking multiple adapters. Molded from food-grade polyoxymethylene (POM), it resists stress cracking and chemical erosion from chlorinated municipal water.

    Ideal Replacement & Upgrade Scenarios

If an existing threaded tee has cracked at the neck, if collets fail to lock tubing under booster pump pressure, or if you are customizing an RO/DI system to add an inline pressure gauge, pressure cutoff switch, or auxiliary feed line directly at a housing port, the IC-RI-Q7544 provides a streamlined, leak-free solution.

    Installation & Replacement Guidelines:

    1. Turn off the cold-water feed supply to your RO/DI unit and relieve line pressure by opening the pure water output line.

    2. If replacing a damaged fitting, press the quick-connect collet collars inward to slide out the two 1/4-inch tubes, then unscrew the old fitting counter-clockwise.

    3. Clean the female 1/4" NPT threads to ensure no shredded Teflon tape remains in the port.

    4. Wrap the male threads of the new IC-RI-Q7544 clockwise with 2 to 3 layers of high-density PTFE Teflon thread tape.

    5. Hand-thread the fitting into the 1/4" female NPT port until snug.

    6. Using an open-end wrench on the molded flats, tighten an additional 1 to 1.5 turns until the branch port is positioned in the required direction.

    7. Inspect the cut ends of your 1/4-inch tubing to ensure square, clean edges, then push each tube firmly into the respective quick-connect collets past the internal O-rings.

    8. Reopen the cold-water feed supply and inspect all three connection points for leaks under line pressure.

    Pro Tips:

    • Run Tee vs. Branch Tee Orientation. Ensure this "Run Tee" geometry fits your plumbing layout before installation. On a Male Run Tee (IC-RI-Q7544), the male NPT thread is in line with one of the tubing ports, while the third port branches off at 90 degrees. If your plumbing layout requires the male thread to enter from the 90-degree center branch with both tubing lines running perpendicular across the top, you need a "Male Branch Tee" instead.
    • Thread Tape Placement Matters. When applying PTFE thread tape to the male 1/4" NPT stem, leave the first 1 to 2 threads bare at the tip. This prevents stray shreds of tape from shearing off during threading and traveling downstream into check valves, flow restrictors, or booster pump micro-valves where they can cause clogs.
