High-Protein Sinking Pellet for Large Carnivorous Fish

The Dymax Massive Achieve Pellets (160g) is a 47% protein sinking pellet specifically formulated for large carnivorous freshwater fish including garfish, stingrays, catfish, plecos, arowana, oscars, and cichlids. At 47% protein, it carries the highest protein content of any food in the Dymax range — including the Cichlid Max — and is built from fish meal, krill meal, and squid meal as the animal protein foundation. Dymax positions it explicitly as a live feeder alternative: a food that delivers the nutritional density predator fish need from live prey while eliminating the bacterial and parasitic disease risk that live feeder programs introduce into freshwater systems.

The sinking pellet format is the critical delivery detail. Stingrays, large catfish, and plecos are bottom feeders by behavior — they forage at the substrate, not the surface. A sinking pellet reaches their natural feeding zone and stays there, giving these species the time they need to locate and consume the food. The 160g container is the entry size, suited for hobbyists trialing the formula with one or two large carnivores before committing to the larger 520g or 1.2kg supply.

    Key Features:

    • Highest protein of any Dymax food at 47%, from fish meal, krill meal, and squid meal
    • Positioned as a direct live feeder alternative — nutrition comparable to live prey, without parasite or bacteria risk
    • Sinking pellet format reaches bottom-feeding species at the substrate where they naturally feed
    • Formulated for garfish, stingrays, catfish, plecos, arowana, oscars, and other large carnivorous freshwater fish
    • Astaxanthin for natural color enhancement and vivid body coloration
    • Kelp provides plant-based nutritional support alongside the high-protein animal base
    • Garlic extract for palatability and feeding stimulation in large carnivores resistant to prepared foods
    • β-Glucan immune support; Bacillus Subtilis prebiotic bacteria for digestive health
    • Promotes optimal growth, vigor, and immune function
    • 160g / 5.64oz entry size for trialing the formula

    Ideal For:

    • Freshwater hobbyists keeping stingrays, large catfish (redtail catfish, tiger shovelnose), or arowana who want to transition away from live feeder fish and feeders to a prepared pellet diet
    • Pleco keepers whose fish have elevated protein needs during growth phases and need a sinking food that reaches the bottom before other tank inhabitants consume it
    • Pet stores introducing Massive Achieve to their predator fish hobbyist customer base as a premium live feeder alternative in the standard trial container size

    Pro Tips:

    • Give large carnivores one to two weeks to recognize the pellet as food. Garfish, stingrays, and arowana conditioned to live prey often require a transition period before accepting a prepared pellet. Offering Massive Achieve at the start of the feeding session — before any live food is introduced — and withholding live food for the remainder of the session accelerate acceptance more reliably than mixing the two in the same feeding.
    • For arowana, wet the pellet before feeding. Arowana are surface strikers that pursue moving prey. A dry sinking pellet that reaches the substrate quickly may be ignored. Soaking the pellet for 30 seconds to slightly swell it, then offering it from feeding tongs or dropping it slowly from the surface, mimics the visual cue of a descending prey item and improves strike response.
    • Place sinking pellets directly in front of stingrays and catfish rather than broadcasting. Large bottom-feeding carnivores are opportunistic but not active foragers. Dropping pellets directly in the feeding zone of a stingray or large catfish reduces the amount that scatters to dead zones of the tank where it will decompose before being found.

    Instructions:

    1. Feed two to three times daily or as appropriate for the species being kept. Large carnivores typically require fewer feedings than smaller community fish.
    2. Drop pellets directly into the feeding zone of bottom-feeding species. The pellets will sink and settle at the substrate.
    3. For surface predators such as arowana, soak pellets briefly in tank water before offering from tongs or dropping slowly from the surface to simulate prey movement.
    4. Allow fish 10 to 15 minutes to locate and consume sinking pellets. Remove any uneaten food after 15 minutes to maintain water quality.
    5. For fish transitioning from live food, offer Massive Achieve at the start of each feeding session before any live food and gradually reduce live food portions over two to four weeks.
    6. Store tightly sealed in a cool, dry location between feedings.
